Analog vs IP Megapixel Budget camera. (PICTURES) Dahua

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow CCTV Members. I would like to say I have finally step into the world of IP Cameras and I must say I am quite impressed so far.

Going to go ahead and apologise for making this post so large. I couldn't find away to make the images side by side.

Here is my Empire security 700TVL Esc-2 3.6mm 24IR camera. Cost 65$

Recorded with 16Ch Nightowl Zeus @D1

This is a Dahua 2MP mini Dome bought from Empire security cameras for $184

2.8mm Lens SD card slot and 30FPS @1080P

Another thing I love about this camera that is is soo tiny. Can hardly see this camera and with the dome you can not tell which way the lens is facing too.

Click for full resolution.

The firmware update didn't do much I did go in and adjust the exposure and gain my self.

I still will replace this one with a IR camera soon.

Makes for a really clean install.

Heres is my new bullet I got to replace my analog camera in the backyard.

Wow great shots. Thanks for the examples. How was your experience with empire security? I am about to purchase from their eBay store.

Wow, that looks great. I'm seriously thinking about the same camera for my install. Your eve looks almost identical to mine. How did the installation go?

I'm curious on your feedback with the vendor as well. I'm still shopping around, and so far the best I've seen is Security Camera King.

I bought the Dahua NVR 3216 from them received it in 2 days. Packed well. When I went to use the PoE port it did not work so I messaged them and within 2mins I received a reply back saying that my NVR needed a firmware update. I wasn't sure how I was going to do this. So he messaged back said that he could do it right now if I give him the HTTP port and TCP port on my NVR with my external Ip address. So I did. Within 5 mins my DVR was updating itself. Restarted and my POE Ports work. That fast plus this was like a 11PM at night. I was shocked I thought for sure I would have waiting till the next 1 or 2 business days to even hear a reply but no. I'm really happy with them.

Awesome. Good to know. I will continue my current plan of purchasing from them tonight. I am looking forward to seeing your night shot.

I am going to be replacing my foscam with the the dahua 2 mp. I hope the low light is descent although we have a street light and lamps semi near our cars so not too worried.

Thanks for the fast reply!

The installation went really easy. It was a simple one hole drill with 3 screws holding the camera to the eve. Hardest part was crawling in the attic all the way to the edge of the house on my stomach. Straddling the two 2x4's so you wont fall through the ceiling of the garage.

I purchase analog cameras from Empire all the time and have got great service from them, I actually installed four of the bullets yesterday. Great cameras for the money, I fully recommend them as someone to purchase from if my experience is any indicator.

I like the 2mp dome too, I have one and was shocked at how good the image looked for the money. My only issue is there is no motion detection on the camera so my DVR software will not work unless I set it to constant run. I don't want that, so I cannot really use the camera. I am still amazed at the image it gets for the cost though. Hoping for a future version with hardware motion detection so I can use them.

Now I want to see some night shots! I've not had opportunity to test mine at night yet. I really need a system to test with at my house lol. Gotta be one of the few on here that does not have a system at home!

Glad you're happier. I did notice the full size IP image isn't great- almost approaching analog. I have analog cameras that blow away your analog camera in day and night, so not a great representation of analog there to begin with. But, glad you're happier with the IP cam.

Thanks for your reply anyways I guess I will rename this "My analog camera vs.." notice I also said budget ip camera. I guessing your analog camera that blows mine away probably cost twice as much as mine if not more then my ip camera. Im open for a better ip camera then what I got for under $185. Thanks for your concern though.

Aside from my analog ptz which is superb at night and is more expensive, all my analog cameras are under 100 bucks- most around 60-70 bucks. Same budget, but not the same results. I can't speak to IP or MP cameras for suggestions. Your night shots of the camera, coupled with lots of troubled night shots I see along the way, is why I have no problem sticking with analog. And whether IP/MP or analog, personally I would steer clear of dome cameras with IR inside. Too much risk of IR reflection issues ruining the picture.

This is a none issue if you use cameras with intelligent IR.

Search for a post I made that has a link to newer firmware. It fixed the night time issues with this camera and makes it actually usable!

how much additional light was used in the night shots, certainly heading in the right direction.

Intelligent IR, having learn't the hard way, keep the IR source away from the camera, you'll have no problems, having control over the IR strength is also a must on board or not.

not every night is a crisp dry night, thieving scum tend to choose bad weather days.

residue build up is also another problem, dirty rain, smoke, dust are all a nightmare when it comes to IR.

its amazing how the technology progresses year in year out, quality available for the money just gets better and better.

cheers J
