2 Monitors 1 DVR? Is it possible?

Recommended Posts

I have a basic 8 channel Dahua DVR. I'm running 8 cameras via cat5. There is only one VGA output. Is it possible to split 4 channels to vga in order to view 4 channels on another display?

Yes but I was thinking 2 independent monitors from the same dvr able to record and display the channels associated with each monitor.

not sure about the Dahua DVR but some dvrs let you select which channels are viewed on the spot out bnc. then you can plug this to any monitor with F connector

Why not record all channels all the time and view all channels on both monitors? What is the scenario your looking for?

See if your DVR has a CVBS (aka Video out) port. The DVR i'm familiar with can display a main monitor (the monitor where you can see the menu and setup) via either VGA + secondary (no menu) with video out (composite cable) or the other way around. Spot out for my DVR just shows a 1x1 screen so have to use the video out to see all the cameras 2x2 etc.
