Stuck with view cameras remotly

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I recently got a cheap Sunluxy 8ch dvr system off ebay. I have set it up and working other than remote viewing. I have set the dvr to 192.168.1.5 which is free as the DHCP decided that. I have since made it fixed and set my web port as 8080 and data port as 8888.

I have set up port forwarding for both TCP and UDP of port 8080 and 8888 to the IP of the DVR 192.168.1.5. I have tried canyouseeme.org with both ports and it can see both. However when i try my internet ip 115.xx.xx.xx:8080 i get nothing. Also when i log onto the DVR website it connect but cant connect to the device.

I have searched the net for hours already and cannot sort it out. Any help much appreciated.

You need to forward the HTTP port if your going to use internet explorer on a PC. The UDP is not even used. I'm not

sure about the samsung, but you might have a rtsp port for mobile devices. But, look in your network settings for HTTP

and forward that to the dvrs IP and than make sure you enter http://192.168.1.X:http port.

I sort of get what you are saying there but how to i find what the http port is. The DVR is set for web on port 8080 and data on 8888.

Thanks for the input so far

I just tried forwarding port 80 to the DVR and it said moving web server port to 8080 sounds great but no luck yet

Try something like 8000 and than try canyouseeme.org. But like I said, make sure its the http port, not tcp, udp, or rtsp.

On port 8080 it is successful on canyouseeme.org. What do you mean make sure it http not tcp...

When i select port forwarding i give it a name the ip adress of the DVR and the port start and end 8080. Then i can only select tcp, udp or both. Should i be able to select http or similar

In the dvr settings make sure your entering an http port, disregard tcp or udp for now, those are for mobile devices not computers. In the router just click tcp, but that will work with the http web port that you configure in the dvr

I'm going to try this post again. The post that I just made prior is gone.

The http port is your port "8080".

The address of 192.168.1.5 is the network (LAN) address. Before you concern yourself with accessing the DVR on the internet with your browser, we have to make sure you can see the DVR on the network. Before we start, change the "DHCP" setting to "STATIC". That will hold the 192.168.1.5 address and keep it from moving on the network. Maintain your port forwarding for the addresses that the DVR wanted as "8080" and "8888". I actually don't understand the "8888" at this point, but,,,,

When you open your Internet Explorer browser and enter the address of 192.168.1.5, what do you get? By the way, are you only using one router on your network? Let's start here.

Thanks for all the help, when i put in 192.168.1.5 it says "this web page is not available".

I only have one all in one modem and router a d-link. The IP on the DVR is static and not moving i have fixed it to the 192.168.1.5.

8888 is just what port it recommends in the instructions so just went with it.

I'm a bit confused on the 8080 and 8888 ports. What ever they recommend for the http, use that and label it in the router something like DVR1. I don't want to get ahead of ourselves with more ports right now, so instead of just putting in 192.168.1.5, change it to http://192.168.1.5. If that doesn't work and you have set the http port to 8888, then use http://192.168.1.5:8888 and see what you get.

What I've found in the past is that if you are using port 80, you don't have to prefix the network address with http://, but if do use a different port number, then you do. I'm sure that there may be exceptions somewhere/someplace, but that's what I've found thus far.

Don't take this the wrong way, but have you opened it up to see if there is a HD in it? Or if both plugs are plugged in all the way? I have been getting reports of DVR's being sold as having HD's, ending up not. Otherwise, if you've had it for sometime and are just now getting that message, then more than likely it's failed.

Alright i am getting some where. I redid everything just to be sure and now if i go to 192.168.1.5:8080 on my LAN i get the dvr and cameras.

So now i tried the WAN log on and can connect to the page but it cannot connect to the device (dvr).

So on canyoume.org it can see both ports 8080 and 8888. And i can see it from another computer on my LAN so given i have set up port forwarding what would be stopping other computer looking in from WAN.

This is great help

OK, things are looking up. On your original post, you said you tried 115.xx.xx.xx:8080

If you now put that address in your browser, you say that you go to the page but don't see anything.

Have you tried http://115.xx.xx.xx:8080 ? Is it any different?

What does your manual say about port 8888? What does it call it?

8080 is your "http" address, but to able to get to your login page, you might need a "command" address. You may also require a "media" address to see your video. What does your owners manual say about ports to open. It should say more on ports than just the http port of 8080. If you go into the "NET" submenu of the "MAIN" menu in your dvr, Does it show anything in regard to ports?

Stay with me, we'll get this thing.

if i try 115.xx.xx:8080 with or without http:// i get nothing still just page is not available.

I can only get onto it through LAN at 192.168.1.5:8080.

The DVR network screen says web port 8080 and data port 8888. Hence thats why i have set the port forwarding to those ports.

I have also set port 80 as port forwarding as when i click apply it said something like this is in use moving it to 8080.

A couple of questions:

Are you only using one router?

Have you double checked your web address again. The web address can change and is the reason for websites like DynDns.

Double check your web address by going to http://whatismyip.com on a computer on the same network as the dvr.
