Lorex 8ch 1080p IP NVR/Camera Question

Recommended Posts

I am having a problem adding a 6th camera. When I add the cam it gives me a "No Resource" under the Lorex emblem. This problem is only occurring when I have the 1+5 or 1+7 configuration for display. When I configure it 3X3 or single screen, everything is cool, I can see all 6 cams just fine. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. Any help, suggestions will be greatly appreciated. 4 cams are Lorex 1080p bullets and 2 are Lorex 1080p domes.

I did what you said with no change. I even set each cam all the way down to 6FPS both on continuous and Motion side, lowest quality and a max bitrate of 1280, down from 4096. I rebooted NVR after changing settings with the same dismal results. Anyone else have had this problem and was able to fix it somehow?

Sounds like a bug, call Lorex support. If it works with 3x3 display, then clearly it's not an issue with adding too many cameras or frame rate or bandwidth, just a display issue. Maybe they have a newer firmware version that fixes this.

It may not be a bug or faulty camera. I have the Swann equivalent NVR to your Lorex. The issue is that the various screens can't all be saved in the layout that you select. For instance, I most often use the 1 + 5 layout - and it's always in the configuration that I've selected. However, when I independently set-up a config (mapping of cameras to screen position) for the others, one or the other will change.

My suggestion is that you choose a layout that you desire for your primary view, and then live with that one - knowing that the others won't stay in the exact config that you'd have preferred. It's bugged me that I couldn't have both the 1 + 5 and the 2 X 2 saved in the specific config of preference, but it's easy to live with.

Good luck. If you find something different, please share as I may benefit as well.

I submitted a ticket with lorex and 2 days later they have escalated the ticket to a technical support specialist. (I thought it was already with a support specialist). I and going to try and call them later to see if I get any better results going that route. Have tried playing around with different settings and searched the web only to find nothing. I really like this system but what is the point of offering certain cam configuration displays if the nvr won't support it?

How many cameras do you have in line? If just six, when you have a 3x3 up, have you tried moving the sixth camera to a different window such as the 7th or 8th window and then going to 1x5/1x7? The window is saying no resource- such as an empty channel. Maybe try a window shuffle and see if the bug is something like a sequential window lineup when using 1x's.

Can you display all the channels in the web browser?

I can, but only when it is on 1 at a time or 3x3. Basically, it does the same thing on the web as it does when your at nvr. 1x5 or 1x7 it still says no resource. And whenever I plug that cam into another port on nvr it acts as if the picture is going to come up, then just goes to no resource. But again, the only way I can get 6th cam to work is have 1x1 or one at a time on the screen or 3x3.

Ok thanks for that. I have 6 cameras, but have only ever plugged in 4. I will try it today and let you know. I have 4 bullets and 2 domes.

I can see all 6 in a web browser and using their windows client software, see the pic below.

The selection of the camera to video window isn't great, have you tried removing them and going through in order and putting them back in the order you like?

thmaxxer - there may be an obscure setting to display the camera.. not that this will allow you to save multiple configs of screen layouts. But, when setting-up the layouts, you should at least be able to place any cam in any "window".

When I'm home again I'll take a look & maybe send a screen shot if it looks like a good bet. I think I may have had the same problem. I'm sure I can see any camera on any layout, but saving them all and having them "stick" is another issue. As mentioned previously, I chose to live with my first choice layout, and then use the others - knowing that the camera selection may not include one that I would have preferred in that layout. C/S (level 2) said that there wasn't a known "fix".

Ok, after hooking it back up (6th camera) I can get it to display the 1+5 on the web client software, my ipads and iphones. That's great, but I still can't get it to display on my TV's. (I have an HDMI splitter and the signal goes to 4 tv's) There has got to be a way to get it to work on my displays.

Joey, can you see this configuration on a TV/Monitor connected to the NVR?

I use an HDMI cable from NVR to a 22" Samsung TV / monitor and it works well.

You can see 6 cams on the 1X5 screen on your TV?
