not to be sore on the subject but an effective camera is one that allows them to see what is happening, whether its $20 or $500

I know a $100 day/night ir bullet camera is much different that a Extreme camera but technology is going nuts right now. For the average consumer, it is no longer necessary to spend more than $100 per camera!

for most, but if you want to see in pitch dark, and also in the day, only certain cameras will do that properly .. in other words, if someone says they want to see 60 feet in pitch dark, i tell them straight, they need an Extreme CCTV camera ... otherwise a BW bullet will suffice

PS. i take that 60' literally ... the whole FOV ...

Yes, I totally catch your drift. But I hear too many people laughing about affordable security nowadays. And again, i'm talking "average consumer", not business owner, paranoid home owner, etc...

For instance, I have sold a 4 channel DVR, 4 Digital Day/Night IR cams, all video/power cable & connectors for a kit price of $1,300 and it has been very succesfull, also has remote access!

"Sheriff Mask says he'd love to see laws restricting the sale of the equipment, but knows it also does too much good for that to happen. "

What a stupid statement. He wants to limit sales of security equipment, what a joke. What is he going to do? Have people fill out a piece of paper asking them if they make drugs for a living?

I live in a ****y in lower MI and we are the meth cooking capital of the state they find them in trucks of cars along the roadside and in a recent bust of a motel they went to raid one room and the people two doors down ran out because they thought they were being raided the bright side is they blow themselves up and burn their trailers down on a regular basis

While staying at a Motel 6 I peeked out the window when I heard the police yelling for some people to come out of the room. I saw like five doors open. I was surrounded by druggies. It was funny as hell.

Some went back in their room, others kept watching what was going on now that they were already outside and were not the target.

arkansas is one of the largest bust per state. And we only have 2.4 million here. Ya in my old neighborhood this guy across the street from me got busted twice within 3 months. And then there was a a bust 8 houses down from me. I was like dang! I mean it's not like it was a bad neighborhood.

dont get me started, we got whole drug neighborhoods here .. the police do anything they spark riots .. the Drug Lords (most awaiting extradition which will never happen) are idols to the younger generation .. they had protests trying to stop their extradition ..

I would just like to see some video clips of these idiots making some stupid mistakes like I have seen on cops.

Like being pulled over on the freeway with their car being a portable meth lab and them trying to explain to the police that they are using these chemicals and equipment for other purposes.

so i called that sheriff and asked him some questions that "challenged" some of his statements. Needless to say he was not pleased with me second guessing his knowledge in surveillance application and use. He told me that he thinks that only drug users would use surveillance on their house. And that the radioshack cameras are "high tech advanced cameras". He also said that those cameras were able to see someone coming up the road 100+ft away!

I explained to him that he was wrong and that was an exaguration. Also that obviously they were not effective in the least bit because the guys never new they were coming. After that he told me to watch my tone and then i heard the inevitable "click.

Ahhh poor sheriff he got his feelings hurt

Your bad.

Did you tell him you were a security specialist and he continued to act like he knew more than you did?

Oh well.
