Sending Command strings over RS485

Recommended Posts

I recently ran into a good deal on an AHD PT camera. It's of good construction and works... if I change my system to PAL format.

According to the instructions that came with the camera it can be changed to NTSC by sending the command string 'Set 85, call 62, call 2' to the camera over RS485. Although the instructions mention sending the string from the DVR, none of my DVRs seem to have the ability to send anything over RS485 other than PTZ control.

Has anyone here run into this problem? How did you solve it?

I know I can buy a USB to RS485 adapter, but what do I use to create and send the command string?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Set 85 means Set preset 85, call means to use preset 62 then use preset 2, it is in the DVR PTZ settings.
