Looking for a POS integrated DVR options for retail chain

Recommended Posts

I apologize if this is the wrong forum but I want to consider both PC and standalone DVRs...

My requirements/preferences:

RELIABLE

Available in 4, 8/9, 16 channel models

Would prefer standalone/embedded unit

Minimum recording frame rate 7/sec/ch

POS integration (at least text insertion, search function would be nice)

Remote multisite software / central mangement system (at least 45 locations)

I am currently considering March Networks, Webgates, IC Realtime (w/text inserter). I want to make sure that I am bringing a good variety of quality options to recommend to my client. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Check out video insight for PC based solutions. I haven't used thier overlay hardware but was browsing thru their info the other day and noticed they have a Cash Register Overlay Program and also multiple interface cables for different registers.

Thomas will be able to answer more on this.

March Networks is going to be your best bet. I've alraedy read people in this forum beat up the other DVRS. You need an embedded sytem for a retail environment. We handle several brands of dvr and they all have their place. If you want happy retail clients take my advice. We handle everything from retail, C-stores, Hospitals, to schools. I've not seen everything, but I have seen a lot.

Thanks for the input, any other suggestions?

Also I am trying to find good statistical information with regards to cctv and loss prevention in a retail environment to present to my client...Emphasizing the importance of cctv from an unbiased, objective point-of-view.

I already have the 2004 national retail security survey but I am hungry for more... any ideas where i can find it?

Also check out the GE Dvrs, embedded RTOS, they've been around for years and are solid work horses.

See the GE (Kalatel) Gallery here for the Remote Software features.

Seriously though you need to see what kind of budget they have for the DVR alone, that would help as there are cheap DVRs, Mid Range, and High end .. low price to high price, less features to feature rich, less stable, to very stable. There's alot of choices.

Here is another decent retail 4 channel DVR (i know not as many channels as you want but just an example). Less expensive than the GE but still loaded with features, not quite a GE but still nice for the price.

Then here is the ultimate budget DVR .. very few features ..

Yeah but thats not a stand alone DVR .. just a USB Quad .. you can get an actual stand alone DVR with HDD etc, from Eclipse for cheaper than that ..

Sure, but the one i posted is still cheaper .. LOL

Plus the Lorex and those others arent even worth looking at, the ones i mentioned are. The AvTech is the cheapest one Id even come close to suggesting for CCTV ...

(btw.. im sure the links with pricing may get deleted per the rules )

The only TRUE POS integration I have seen is in the March Networks, it works different to all others because it works through software not a ****y 232 printer interface, if u use the 232 capture box you can only search what is on the printed docket, and half that time that is not all you want o search...the march networks POS Investigator suite is software based and allows you to search for more than what is on the docket, PLU codes, operater sign ons, multiple operators lots more, the best I have seen by a mile
