Repelling insects

Recommended Posts

Has anyone found a good way of repelling insects from day/night cameras?

At night time they are really interested in my cameras

Once insect tried to eat the camera last night!

I have a motion log to go through (house was burgled recently and the offenders were spotted by a neighbour 3 nights previously doing "reconnaissance"). And the insects are just causing too much motion.

What I want is something I can spray every couple of weeks or so.

Or maybe something battery operated mounted alongside the cameras that repels them.

What have people on here used?

I'm using mothballs. I put mothballs in an old sock and drape it over the mounting. Every so often I see a moth fly by, but they don't stick around. This approach has worked to keep spiders away too... no more spiders making their webs in front of the lens. You'll have to replace the mothballs about once a year.
