New member needing info/help with identification of PZT Came

Recommended Posts

Hi All, I'm new here and would really appreciate some help with a new PZT camera that I have just obtained for what I feel is very little money( about £40  with  an opportunity to return it if I do not want it within 7 days).

There is however a catch, I do not have the clear Dome cover(ive seen some that i could possibly modify to fit )bBut more importantly and urgently I do not have any instruction manual.

There is no manufacturers name or model number on the actual camera but I have taken the unit apart and I can see number on the camera module .I will load this post with pictures to allow people to see and hopefully help.

I am trying to test this camera on a Hikvision DS-7204HVI-S dvr but when I connect the camera to the dvr (via the rs458 T+ / T-)and turn the dvr & monitor on after which the camera gets turned on I am not seeing any video image but the camera does go through it's motions doing a pan and tilt(@20 seconds) then goes to rest but no video comes on.

I did  go into the dvr settings and try to put different settings(baud rate, camera address, cam number) into the PZT sub menu but no luck with any image coming up.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on where I am going wrong and where to set the dip switches on the camera and then what settings to put in the DVR menu.

When I first got the camera the dip switches had No 1 & 2 ON (on the 1st set of 6) ....and No 1 ON ( on the second set of all the others were OFF but no idea if this was right

Sorry for the long post I wanted to give as much information as possible to help as i am new to all this.

Andrew

Sorry dont know if I can get these pictures on, will try to down size them but have got much higher resolution pics but not sure how to post them on here

Hi. If you have plunged in the camera power and coax and it does its tour yet you get no image on screen then send it back.

Your other problem is the dome .... It's not just a case of getting one to fit you have to get the right one for the unit

So what you are saying is that once cam is plugged in and does its initial spins/tour I should instantly get a video image despite what any of the dip switches in the camera are set at-is that before going into the pzt menu in the dvr?

Thats not hopeful was hoping for a bargain

Hi. You don't get £40 PTZ bargains.

Yes if all coax is connected to both camera and dvr and the camera goes home tour there should also be a image.

And then you still have to dome problem

Are you using 12 or 24v power

this was purchased by the ((2nd hand shop) from auction and as far as i can see it does looks new. It is using 24 volt supplied power transformer.

Seeing the missing dome i had a look online/ebay and found quite a few that i would be quite happy to "adapt" but if as you say the image should be there as soon as you fire up and it does the iniital tour then it could be a no go ,shame as it certainly looks an expensive bit of kit.Not sure if the pictures i uploaded actually are showing here.

No your pictures don't show

As far as dome .... It is not just a plastic cover.

Think of you putting a glass over one eye and looking out the bottom. Image is distorted.

Same with a PTZ dome it has to be the right size and compensate for how camera sees.... It also applies to sun glare if dome is not right sun will blind the camera

Can someone tell me how the camera shows an image.

IE.... do you HAVE to have the rs485 cables connected to a dvr or would an image show if the camera is just plugged into a monitor with the bnc cable and power to the camera??

Yes that is definitely the original 24 volt power supply as it was in the pyrofoam boxed packaging with a special cut out for it. It may look small in the puc but is actually quite large and heavy and puts out 2000mA.

2amp is not enough for that camera ..........also from your picture some connections have been cut off

You have tried on two DVRs ......... You can plug direct into your tv as well but the fact is you can't get a image

With those PTZs I know had a ribbon problem (flat cable between head and camera )
