What are your thoughts about the cameras i bought?

Recommended Posts

Ok. I appreciate your response.

I will try next time to buy some newer toys, I tried to save money, but it was difficult to do, as people were bidding too much all the time, and it was hard to find good value deals that way.

Usually I save a lot of money this way in other departments.

I also require international shipping so more complications...

You win some you lose some.

At least, after all the auctions I looked at, I got a good feel and I am more comfortable with the market, but I will probably won't land anything much better than this as to the tough competition.

Anyway it was interesting to see new and old stuff alike.

A memento from the past.

I'll do some more READING, such a great advice, and try to do the best with what I have.

Thank you for your time to anyone who actually tried to help.

I hope to show you guys a working system in the near future and give you a tour, when I've it ready and installed.

All hikvision you can upgrade..... China copy will not run true hik cameras ..... And the warning in the advert multiple times is a clue it is not a true hikvision.

But if you think there a good buy then get them

Seller response when asked about its genuity:

this is hikvision camera, it is domestic model, you can find it from the link below.

http://www.hikvision.com/cn/prgs_1019_i8915.html

it only has Chinese language when left facotry, my supplier installed hack firmware into it, so that it became multi language version, that's why this camera can't be upgraded.

thanks and regards,

When buying Hikvision from Aliexpress, Ebay, Amazon, etc, you have to know what you are dealing with. Hikvision builds/sells for their domestic market (China) and for export market (the rest of the world).

Domestic (chinese) market products are cheaper; they have been hacked so they will have english interface, but it can not be upgraded (easily), doing so will brick the device, or you will end up with a chinese device. You will have no warranty, you will get no support from Hikvision, so if you mess up something, it is up to you to fix it.

But it is still genuine after all.

And how much is the updating feature really important?

Are there frequent updates? Important updates?

You usually just plug and forget, no?

Maybe we should all just learned Chinese and have it the simple way.

The guy also sent me a sample video.

Looks amazing (there is a little reducment in quality after the site conversion).

Will that be considered a non-junk type of camera?

What is the average price point for a very good camera?

Yes you are right ...... Just buy them ... They can go into the box of the rest of the crap you bought

Since you are talking in euros then you will also need a China NVR because that camera will not run on euro NVR

And if you think updates are not important

You saying 'crap' on everything without explaining doesn't make it so.

Is hiki not considered a good company?

I don't know what do you want me to buy as you don't say.

Why would they not run on European NVR? How does it differ than 'China NVR'?

I just need the video feed url, no? ONVIF compliant should make everything ok, right?

Why do I need a NVR, btw?

Would it not be better to save directly to a network path, or to a local SD card?

Would it not be better than the approach of "putting all my eggs in one location", so to speak?

And if you think updates are not important

Again you're saying something I didn't say.

The nature of a question is the wanting to ascertain an answer.

I don't update my router firmware, or other electronic devices that I have, frequently, or at all.

Is it any different when it concerned cameras? Is there usually anything to update even?

How can I know if I have no experience in the matter? I was asking you.

Well I think you did ....REALLY IMPORTANT

But that's a post you can't alter.

Same as your PTZ housing ..... That takes a Sony module not hitachi

Again if your happy with hik China gray market go and buy them you think they are ok

As far as NVR again that or use a PC ..... But see if it works with hikvision software
