Dedicated Micros to Hikvision upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am just about to upgrade our CCTV system, it’s is a fairly substantial system currently with 3x dedicated micros DS2’s and a mix of 60 IP cameras, mainly DM Oracle IP cameras. I am upgrading using a staged approach due to financial reasons. The NVR’s are being replaced with a hik 64 channel NVR and the cameras with Hik cameras. The NVR and 18 cameras will be replaced first, with the rest of the cameras next year.

I would like to plumb all of the DM cameras waiting to be replaced into the Hik NVR to get rid of the DM nvr’s is this possible? I can’t see Dedicated micros as a supported 3rd party with Hik and I can’t find comparable protocol info for the DM cameras.

can anyone help my frustration!

many thanks.

Doing this will be the biggest mistake you will make and also depending on what country your in

both hik and dahua have 64 way nvrs and limit you to future expansion there already old tech

is this for private or business use ?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply

it’s for business use, but unfortunately I am stuck with what I am getting due to our procurement requirements!

the old DM system has been in 10 years, I didn’t think I’d be talking about DM again either! Horrible stuff.

Hi. Then questions need to be answered to your supplier/ installer

old hikvision software ..... old apps and bad network path

Uk business and no backup ..... your DM system was split ... if one went down you still had 32 cameras as backup.     64 on one hikvision system everything is down

apart from the hik 64 you will also have to take into account a raid storage..... UK law is 31 days some businesses are 21

70% of theads on this forum alone is about hik  recorders hacked passwords - software failure ..... recorder short life span

ip cameras are good but recorders are no good to protect a business
