Anyone can give us a decent technical download why MAC (Apple) will not work with most if not all IP cameras in the market?? The same for DVRs, etc...

Besides obvious difference of the operating systems, is there anything else that someone can shed some light??

ActiveX = Windows thing.

Most IP cams (MJPEG) can be used with any OS as JPEGs are the same graphics you see all over the internet you just need a basic webserver and a sinple javascript to refresh it. You run into troubles with MPEG4/H.264 streams, those are usually (almost always!) ActiveX as such Windows only.

You would think someone would get smart and make a java interface, the whole problem would disappear as java is OS independent.

You can play some tricks though if you have a I think the other day it was called a "High End" DVR configured for that purpose.
