Viewing DVR with a Windows Mobile PDA or phone
34Ford replied to 34Ford's topic in Computers/Networking
Turns out my Aposonic DVR supports Android devices. So my Nook Color works fine. -
My dads house is about 200 ft. away and I was wondering if its possible to connect a dvr to a linksys wap54g in his house and have it talk to my linksys wrt54g router. He dont have internet.
-
So it could work other than maybe a weak signal? Not that it would be any stronger, but would a wireless bridge be better?
-
I found out last night that I can view my cameras with my Nook Color. Rooted to android 2.1
-
Oh, I was more curious how to take wired cameras and make them wireless.
-
It comes with a exe file you run that installs the dll's and activex for Firefox, Chrome, And Safari in a separate folder in windows/system32/WATCH_16R/ Which is separate for the activex for internet explorer. Either one of these would be installed if you visit the dvr online automatically if you didn't have them already installed.

How it looks thru Firefox. Only have 8 cameras at the moment.
-
Installed last night and it is so much quieter and the remote was improved. No more flat membrane remote. I like being able to click on Firefox, and see whats going on at home from anywhere with a pc and a connection for under $600. Works great.

I sold my 3 year old 8 channel Aposonic to a friend last week and I have a new 16 channel Aposonic A-S1604R4 being delivered today. I really like these due to the fact I can view the cameras with Internet Explore, Firefox or smart phones. Since I use Firefox I dont need the software that comes with it. Here is the manufactures info. http://www.aposoniccctv.com/index.php/standalone/16chdvr/85

BC, I would like to hear more about your wireless to analog camera setup. Course this may be hijacking this fellows thread.
-
I noticed some of the leds are burned out. Whats my best option to replace them? I dont have any problem soldering.
-
I can buy the camera board too?
-
RMA is probably out since I bought these back in '05 So I should look for some 940nm and just do all of them? Could that be to high for these cameras? I can probably look on the owners paper and see what these cameras have in them. EDIT: I just found it has IR LED Wavelength - 850nm in them.
-
What are you using in the way of wire/coax to the cameras?
-
I want need 500' for the rest of my life. So the wife had the plastic out the other night buying from Amazon so I had her order me 100'.
-
I used up my 500 ft. roll down to 42 ft. and I need 100 ft. Thought I would ask here before I ordered some. Most that you find is the cheap pre-made with the ends and they look like junk. I want the RG59 with 18/2 power side. Here is a pic. Thanks

Ah man, but In bet you were on the east end, Im up here near Asheville in the mountains.

Thanks for the reply. No rush since its for my home and its my last camera to install. I see your in Canada, so shipping could be a bit higher

Is that possible to use software that is not specific to your dvr? I have tried different ones with no luck. And the software that came with mine sucks. -

You have to put in the ip thats on the outside of your modem thats given to you by your dsl or cable provider. So goto ipchicken.com and they will show you the ip you need to use. -

Hello Mike. I know your frustration. And to add more insult to injury is if your instruction manual is as bad as the one Im looking at online, its pitiful. Especially the TCP/IP setup. This topic probably should be in the networking forum, but I will try to help. Im no expert, but I at least my dvr is working online. My biggest problem setting mine up was incorrect instructions on the internet. Look in your dvr and see what the preset IP is, if it has one, if not you will have to fill in the IP, Port, Netmask, and Gateway yourself. What ever the IP is in the dvr should be accessible with your computer and a browser, just by typing in say something like 192.168.1.220:80 for instance in your address bar should find it even through the router. -

Oh, ok. The docs for this software didn't explain anything. Its more geared for people that already understand. Thanks for the help.

Could someone tell me what "Patrol Pt" stands for. It has up to 32 selections for something. See if I can embed a pic.
