  1. What can I do to let me get access to my dvr from anywhere with a android phone/tablet and completely refuse all other outside ip addresses? I have a Dynamic DNS now so I can always keep the same ip at home. I have reason to believe there is bots pounding my dvr trying to get in, which it finally refuses them but right when I want to get in I have to wait for it to timeout. This is frustrating when I want to see what is going on at that moment. I heard there is no use in blocking a range of addresses. Seems like there was a way to let me in only but what if I am at a new location like a hotel, or I would need a windows based laptop?
  2. Hallelujah, you da man!!!!! Thank you so much.
  3. I updated my HCVR7416L firmware last night and now I am not seeing any video thru the hdmi to the tv, unless I log in. Each camera shows a red padlock too. Is this part of the security? If it is now I cannot view whats outside when I am sitting on the couch.
  4. Well I tried every possible thing I could in the matrix screen. Still not showing the cameras when logged out.
  5. Before the upgrade I could go to the tv's hdmi input that the dvr is on and all of the cameras was displaying. Not all I get is black screens for all cameras, unless I log in. All my admin options are checked.

    extra gear

So what do you think you need for a roll of the siamese cable? Im in NC.
  8. Usually once or twice a year Charter changes my ip and I have to change my addresses at work and laptops/tablet so I can view my cameras. I suppose sometimes its due to power outage. Is there anything I can do to keep a fixed ip for at least the dvr? Thanks.
  9. You have the remote access for $20 a year? I found this list, but dated. http://dnslookup.me/dynamic-dns/

    cctv gear

Wonder what shipping would be for the coax to 28778 NC?
  11. I know now it was a mistake, but last year I bought 500ft of that stuff and I did one run if it at about 100ft. Well everything seemed ok then the camera started dropping out. I switched out 2 other cameras and determined it wasn't them. Video is fine. So, its gotta be the camera is not getting enough voltage? I guess I really need to check voltage and see if it is in fact low. This coax is advertised at 18ga wire. I have 9 other cameras around my place with different coax and never had any problems with them, so its gotta be this cheap crap.
  12. Yea I have had good luck with cat 5 cable off Ebay. In fact I bought 75' yesterday and I ended up buying it from Newegg on Ebay. .
  13. I said the length was 100 feet. Anyway I sold the junk.
  14. I have one of those little quarter sized bullets looking thru a window in my garage that has worked great for years.

My Home Setup - Qvis Zeus 8

Hi Rory, I wonder if that is the same thing I am using now. The plugin is called HOEM Activex plugin 1.2.0.0 and it came from a file that is downloaded from my Aposonic. The file is SetupActiveX.exe Have you actually tried firefox and if you have what version of firefox did you use? I have found out this plugin I have will not work past FF version 3.6.25

My Home Setup - Qvis Zeus 8

Was just checking in for the day and some how I got interested in this Qvis. I am on my 3rd dvr, which all have been fine but even the one I have now is not a D1 unit. The prices of these has me interested, and the fact I can use Android. Anyone able to use Firefox with one of these? I currently can with my Aposonic which has to load a activex file, but I am a FF user only. Thanks

    Indoor Dome Cameras

I added a room to my garage, 16'x28' and I want to put either a bullet or dome in one corner, so I guess I want the lowest mm lens I can get? Fixed lens is actually harder to find than ones with variable. 4~9, 2.8~11, 3.5~8 I would think a fixed lens be any better as for focus?

Video of my cameras at night

Darn good looking cameras for the price. I may have to buy one to compare them to my $200 KT&C's. Thanks for the info.
  23. In the past I bought the dc power connectors and soldered them myself on the end of my siamese coax. And I thought I would buy 10 of the ones on Ebay already molded with pigtails. Well all I can say is the wires must be a 28 gauge or something. I mean there is hardly and strands at all. And hard to strip without ripping out some strands. I should have looked at a cctv site, but at least Im not out much money, get what you pay for.
  24. I think I will solder these directly to the end of the cable like I have in the past. That way theres no shrink wrap or screws to deal with.
  25. Anyone tried to access a DVR with a Windows Mobile PDA or phone? Currently I can access my Aposonic dvr thru internet explorer on a laptop/desktop once it downloads a activex cab file. I understand internet explorer mobile 6 will use activex but you have to install the file manually. But I wonder if it would even work then? I was considering buying a Samsung sch-i760 phone with wifi and trying it.
