Output 4
The output uses a photocoupler and is electrically isolated from the internal circuitry. The output terminal connections can be made with either polarity. The output can drive a maximum load of 50 V and 120 mA.

So is that a dry contact or ttl?
its a TTL.
-
The ttl in your scenario would still have current flowing through it to fire the relay. That is why TTL is not a dry contact output. it's a low current output.
This seems to be a gray area in our industry so I'm just trying to get some clarity.
Are we saying the dry contact will handle more current than the ttl?
If so how much?
TTL doesn't have dry contact. with a TTL, you still need to use a relay if you want to switch high current load. TTL is a voltage output with usually very small amount of current while relay is just like a switch

Ok perhaps I just fell off the turnip truck but whats the difference in a Alarm output triggered by motion and a dry contact output triggered by motion? With a ttl output you still need to use a low current relay to utilize the output. With a dry contact you can connect devices directly to it as long as the load current is not more than the contact current.
With a ttl output you need to use a relay like this http://www.altronix.com/index.php?pid=2&model_num=RBSNTTL

thanks Matt,
I've used that baluns from GEM and it fits nicely inside a VCM casing

This is for an existing installation. 48 camera system. I want to replace a camera with a CNB VCM model. The existing camera system uses baluns but I believe those would not fit in a VCM casing. I am thinking of replacing the balun from a different manufacturer. I dont want to replace the baluns from the headend. Will this work? or does baluns work in pairs only?

1. One common software
2. Eptz works with vivotek software. This is like a digital zoom
Vivotek is perfect for your needs. Which camera model are you considering?
First, excuse my poor English…INTRO:
Before posting, I have read few hundred post on this board and see all the pictures in the “Images and Demo”, and this help me to well understand a lot of details and also narrowing my choice vs my budget (around $600.00).
My need if for my home and my hobby… So you can see at this link my specific need.
http://meteo.logigestion.ca/lg_WebCam.php
I want to replace my VERY poor and cheap webcam Logitech C190 with a Vivotek camera.
MY NEED:
1- Best still image quality… I upgrade my web site every minute.
2- Motion detection… for recording still image.
3- Good quality in bright day and night (50 feet).
4- Outdoor but not need bullet and vandal proof.
QUESTIONS:
1- Vivotek did have a specific software for each camera model or if have a common one?
2- ePTZ quality?
3- Dome or Bracket?
Thanks

If you are in Canada you may want to check out i3International. I have 9 of their servers in three stores. Lots of drive room and surveillance is their only business. I did not purchase cameras from them; just the servers. Also, their software is top notch. They are based in Ontario.SRX-Pro 24024RA DVMS
• Up to 24 channels of video (16 Analog)
• Up to 8 Channels of IP Video
• 4 Channels of Video Analytics
• Support POS Integration
• Real-time mode display
• Mux or composite display
• Removable storage
I think he wants stand alone dvr not pc based

Is there a hybrid software that would support both a Hikvision DS-4208 card and some AXIS IP cameras? Thanks
I think netvision does.

I have used this same card for two identical pc's with no problem. Just make sure to install the correct driver for it. And use the latest version 6.62.
Try to use a different pci slot. Have you tried swapping the camera with a good camera on the same dvr and check if the issue follows the camera in question?
I have a strange problem with a new DVR card that I bought. It is a low cost card from NetvisionDVR that has impressive specs, but I am having some trouble with it.Link: http://www.netvisiondvr.com/ProductInfo.asp?id=101
The DVR that I build with the card replaced an old GE DVMRe that has worked with no problems for many years.
Now I have two cameras that become red and blurry regularly. It is really random - sometimes the cameras are fine for 1 week before becoming red and sometimes only for a few hours. Restarting the DVR ALWAYS handles the problem.
Red cameras: http://imageshack.us/g/8/red3g.jpg/
When I move or shake the camera cables between the DVR and the balun (I am using baluns on all cameras) sometimes the picture becomes normal and sometimes makes other cameras become red as well. Replacing the cable between the balun and the DVR did not change anything!
It seems to have something to do with bad connection, but then why does restaring always handle the problem? And then, the GE DVMRe didn't give any such problems.
What else can I try?
Edit: I contacted the Netvision Tech Support and they were not helpful at all. Even after explaining everything and sending pictures, the guy suggested that my cameras are broken...

Hi anyone out there help us out with an ip issueWe have several cameras IP which we have set up through our BT router which work well for a couple of days and then go down. When we check them out the IP addresses have changed. Do we need a static IP address to view IP cameras?
Please anyone got the answer
Yes

Are these two cameras identical except for the pigtail cable?

Hi, Just got a Vivotek FD8134V cam and can't seem to get the port forwarding to work. I keep getting the Error: Router does not support UPnP port forwarding. In the Vivotek network settings I'm using a fixed IP and assiagned a HTTP port number. What's the Vivotek secondary HTTP port entry for and can I leave it at 8080? I set up my 2wire router to open the assigned HTTP port for the IP address just like I did for my Axis and Panasonic cams which work fine. Is there somethig else I forgot to enable on Vivotek's settings?Thanks..
Looks like your router does not support UPNP port forwarding so you will need to do it manually. Just forward the primary http port, RTSP port, rtp port and rtcp port.

I have installed lots of everfocus cameras at work and I dont like the quality. After 2 or 3 years you will have to replace it because it is broken. Its always the power supply board that is having problem.

Where are you from?
Hello,First time post here. I haven't bought anything yet but have been looking at 8 camera DVR systems for my home. My maximum budget is $2000 and originally I was going to build my own system with a $715 8-channel EverFocus DVR with 5 of the VCM-24VF cameras for $215 each plus cables and power supply.
I just found a site selling that same EverFocus DVR (ECOR264-8D2) with 8 EverFocus ED610/MVB cameras, 8 100ft cables and power supply all for $1599. The spec's for the EverFocus cameras look really close to the CNB. Anybody familiar with these care to chime in? What is the difference between CNB "DC iris varifocal lens" and EverFocus "varifocal auto iris"? I see the CNB has 600TVL and the Everfocus has 560TVL. The EverFocus has WDR.
Where are you from?
Basically if I go with the package deal that includes the everfocus cams, I can save about $400 and have 8 cameras instead of 5. I could use the extra cams inside if the quality is similar between the 2 brands. What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance, Paul

hello guys,Just left a client with a Keyscan setup that is getting misreads and locking people out. The reader seems ok as does the lock and cabling etc. Any ideas on what could cause this. Also how do you purge the panels, just in case it is corrupt data.
Thanks
Seems like a corrupted memory to me but it could also be interference from external. Purging the panel is done by shorting jumper J1 momentarily while panel is powered. Keyscan system VII will automatically re upload all settings or you can just upload manually.
If it doesn't fix it you need to check your wires and look for any unnecessary voltage getting into the panel

i have to agree with Birdman, use separate IR, i myself am new to this whole CCTV thing, i started out with one of those ebay packages, i learned real fast, they are junk, now i have been replacing all the cameras, for me, i got hooked on the CNB line, specifically the VCM-24VFs and i am using the IR MIR 1000 illuminator, i tell you its not even needed, due to the specs of the VCM-24Vfs, its a True Day and Night camera...but you are at the right place for advice, listen to Rory, Soundy or Birdman, (not in any preferred order), they know their stuff...
it was their views of the CNB VCM-24VF that made the decision for me...
i would give that camera a try, you will be impressed...
Is the VCM-24VF for outdoor only? Would it be good for a 15ft ceiling? If not, what would you recommend? I need something that will work with Geovision GV800. Thank you very much
You can just use DBM-24VF same specs but for indoor use

Do you need a separate controller to program presets/tours? or is there like a virtual keyboard/controller from Geovision software? My client wants to control the PTZ from his iphone so a separate controller is not needed.I am looking at using this PTZ dome http://www.i3international.com/en/NDB100K_daVinci_Lite.html
thanks
Yes there is a virtual PTZ controller, as with most DVR software these days. Thats the reason you would be selecting a PTZ dome, is to select a protocol that will work with the PTZ
make sense thanks for the quick reply Rory

Is there a setting to display time stamp on a recorded video during playback? My client have 3 dvr's all running ver 8.4. Only one dvr displays time during playback.
