Hi. The first thing I would do is swap out your nvr ….. reason being the 900 nvr did not do what was on the box 4K HD was a dahua rendered 4K monitor display only unit (lorex is dahua) and I would not replace with either a lorex of dahua (you will be wasting your money if you do also you will see I big improvement in your existing cameras both in display and storage nvrs are cheap so I would look at going 16 way …8 for existing cameras and 8 for adding some cameras what is your budget

~~ Help~~ how to open ".ps" CCTV footage file extension ?
tomcctv replied to raymondwashtv's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi it’s not as easy as that what make of dvr are you using and how old opening a PS file is not video ….. depending on your recorder type you might also find snap shot (photograph taken) this will be a ps file and you don’t need software to open it ….. you just send it direct to your printer -

Hi no it’s only hikvision software 2010 to 2016 was a bad time for hikvision there software had so much malware built in and spyware they were forced to change everything….. this also included iP camera software which was also replaced and had to be done in 2015 your problem points to camera firmware if your system can’t see iP cameras iP address then you need to find the update for your cameras …… your iP cameras should be either 1.3 or 2mp build date should be Hikvision Firmware V5.3.0 build 150513

Onyx 4-in-1 16ch dvr with 2.4mp coax domes
tomcctv replied to Rudie's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi yes you can go 4K ….. but in most cases 4K on all cameras just takes away your footage storage space unless you buy bigger hard drives i would still use a mix of 2mp upto 8 mp …. Having 4 or 5mp cameras protecting small areas is good enough in most cases 4K in large outdoor areas makes sense I would look at the viper units …. They have the best remote app on the market we’re you have full control and also footage burn off and send via email -

Hi. 16 channel… is this home or business system I would not go hikvision …. No point buying problems swapping a 16 cam system can be expensive done all in one go. So I would go with first changing the recorder to a hybrid. This then allows you to swap out your existing cameras any time -

Lorex 4K IP Camera RJ45 Pin1 Broken, need pin out help
tomcctv replied to bernstma's topic in Security Cameras
Hi there are a couple of ways …. Move wire 8 from rj45 and use that as 1 (both ends) but you might loose ir Or you could buy a tp-link Ethernet over power and not use the damaged cat cable at all as far as finding the break ….. it is usually at the rj45 ends ….. but worth looking along cable run paying attention to cable clips that might of been too tight or areas were it bends around corners but if it has worked in the past it is unlikely to be a cable break …. Usually it’s the power cable side of the rj45 that gives the problem i would look at cable run and see if it has any loose runs ….. we’re the cable could be moving with wind or under stress from dropping down can you power the camera locally if needed https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/powerline/tl-pa717-kit/ -
Kguard DVR-8CIF (NS801) Channels 3 and 4 Not Recording
tomcctv replied to cdub74's topic in Security Cameras
Hi first thing I would look at is channel list you have an 8 way dvr and you can drag and drop images on screen to move cameras around so you could infact have cam 1 cam 2 cam 5 cam 6 showing on your screen and cams 5 and 6 have no settings this could also happen if the system has been unplugged and the bnc connections on the back have not been put into the right channel ports……. I would go to monitor and click 8 cam screen and see which channels have image other than that I would not spend much time a effort on that dvr as it’s 12 years old and only records in cif hybrid DVRs are cheap infact in most cases it’s not much more than buying a 1tb hard drive …. Which a new dvr would come with -
R80XD50-PQ - pass and firmware
tomcctv replied to Caporeira's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi that camera is called the icsee Wi-Fi smart camera the questions your asking sounds like you have come across the camera secondhand as you need the qr code to activate it and if it has already been used then you won’t find the password unless you have the login details from last owner not to be mixed up with iP cctv camera …. It is a Wi-Fi smart camera new they cost $22 so don’t expect much from it icsee is part of the xmeye company so I strongly recommend you read the privacy policy on the App Store or play store it tracks your mobile / tracks internet usage/ and sends you adverts via the cloud storage you use to access the camera (all back to china) -
Nice part of the country I have a few installs in boston your budget is in the right area for a 4 way system and I would go for a IP camera system which is cat5 run to each location of camera cat5 in the uk can be from £40 to £120 a roll of 305m which makes no sense but it will eat into your system budget screwfix does 100m reel for £39 which should be enough for your house i would look at viper nvr and cameras …. The nvr will run any iP camera upto 4K and has one of the best viewing apps available called SuperLive plus
-
Hi there is not a lot you can do ….. these cheap crap smart cameras need to be connected to a 3rd party server and if that’s down your camera is down …… another problem is some apps are starting to be removed in some countries for breach of data qr P2P cameras people think when remote viewing that there connecting to there camera …. Which is not the case … your connecting to a server that is most of the time in China….. if that’s down you remote viewing is down

Hi that’s a good budget . What size property is it for home or business In the uk I would not go for over priced hikvision what part of uk are you in
