NVR setup questions.
tomcctv replied to riggz's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
hi. the 3216 nvr. is very limited .... even to the point you buy a 16 way. the more MP you add the less channels you have. if you buy a 16way and use 4 IP 2mp cameras thats the nvr limit reached............. so you turn a 16way into a 4 way or you can use 16 1 mp cameras to use all 16 channels but it will save money if you go hybrid as the 3216 nvr can only record in D1 with all 16 channels used. which to be honest is a waste of money buying 1 mp cameras 16 channel@D1, 8 channel@720P, 4 channel@1080P realtime recording -
hi. no you will see no change at all.

Can I turn Sony EVI-D70 into a netcam?
tomcctv replied to JacFlasche's topic in Computers/Networking
Hi. it might be worth you just buying a DVR with remote viewer and that has good Iphone and android apps. then you have full control of your camera from anywere and be able to record also. -
just managed to employer let me add some extra 5 cameras but
tomcctv replied to halsaps's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Cat5 with baluns is the way to go for you. but one thing i would check before you go buying anything. is see if your DVR allows you to add extra cameras. alot of people forget this till its to late. -

Why would they do that when POR (Power On Restart) is a standard function inside all electronics? Power cycle does the hard reset. It's a rhetorcial question. every time you have say a power cut you dont want to have to keep programing camera. so stores info...... you need a hard reset for lost passwords or camera relocate. and also with alot of Taiwanese manuals ground means neutral. which looks like is the problem of this post.
-
its very clear in the manual what to do with the ground wire. 1. leave at camera end (not connected) 2. extend to Recorder location and incorperate into push button for camera hard reset. NOT a ground put it another way. avtech did not build a hard reset into the camera .... so instead of re-designing the case they have added external fix. (ground to live) for hard reset)
-
aahpat. there is not much more anyone can say. you have had info from many members in the industry if you total it up into years .... it will be a few ears experiance your avtech ground wire SHOULD NOT BE CONNECTED PERMANENT it is only a reset wire and should only be used to reset. NOT AS A GROUND. just plug and play your camera.
-
avtech ground is a manual rest............... which you will never use. just install your camera and enjoy. if you are still confused. there are only a few cameras on the market with ground reset. most have a reset button that does the same thing

Hi. you could turn everything up run your dvr at max. or replace hard drive for smaller. but to be honest why bother. you might have a time were you need to leave your dvr for a few days. holidays or something like that

NVR setup questions.
tomcctv replied to riggz's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. yes it is a waste of money. this is a problem with the likes of dahua and CM. there units control the cameras ....... look for a NVR that takes what you have cameras set too. if you want to use the dahua 16 the use 16 1mp cameras. but then you have to think if the extra cost from analog to MP is worth the extra money -

Swan 8 camera system and camera replacement
tomcctv replied to randomwalk101's topic in Security Cameras
TVL has nothing to do with coax. like has been said in so many posts camera TVLs is just a sales pitch camera (analog) sale specs are of te camera. years ago it was not a problem but people buy on BEST spec. what they dont know is they list the best of the camera i.e in black and white mode. like some past posts people ask why CNB are only 580tvl that because they are talking colour. there are two ways to spec a camera. analog or digital. digital always looks better but you have to remember the digital process is before it is converted to analog to go via coax then back to digital at the DVR so before you even have a image the quality has already been down graded with the conversion -

Best place to buy online?
tomcctv replied to EBRDDM4v3's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
if you are going dahua nvr. just remember you are limited to MP. stick with 1.3mp if your only using a 4 way. and then you cant run your ip at full res -
Hi Brent1971. since you already have cameras in place. then your first option is to change your DVR. then see which cameras you are not happy with. these units are D1 and also hybrid. so you can install either better analog cameras if needed and if requied you can also start using MP ip http://surveillance.aver.com/model/embedded-hybrid-DVR-EH1008H-4-Nano

Best place to buy online?
tomcctv replied to EBRDDM4v3's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. buying from direct from china has got easier. (on paper) but its far from cheaper than buying from your own country if something goes wrong. it only takes phone calls to a manufacturer to find your supplier.
