tomcctv replied to randomwalk101's topic in Security Cameras
hi. you can only get out of your dvr what the codec allows. its not just as easy as updating the cameras. if you plug both cameras direct into a TV you may see a differance -
hi. yes it will work. but a lot of expence to end up with a much less IR lighting. say your current camera with 860 has a range of 20ft if you change the IR to 940 your range is then down to 8ft

Dahua 3204LE-U, choppy in Realtime with FTP enable
tomcctv replied to Barryvdw's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi. it depends on how old your unit is. 2010 models do need to have a HD format every few months. also are you using standard drives ? -
Hi. for this type of install i would look at something better than kits. the samsung you have listed is a plug and play unit and these give problems ...... you only need the power supply to go and full system is down. then you have other problems like adding extra cameras. hybrids are not as expensive as you think. for carparks and play area a good MP camera will give better coverage than 1 or even 2 analog cameras

Got your PM, but not sure what you mean by cost of a call? There was no information about calling anyone? I just spent the last few hours looking at DVR's. I'm about ready to just select the 4 I am narrowed down to, but them in a hat and pick one. There are just so many choices! Hi. i got your PM. but before you go buying the models you listed in your PM i would say do some homework first. your PM list has a problem already. sellers are just there to sell and the one you have listed IS NOT A Dahua DVR. what is your budget. look at aver nano 4s or true dahuas

Bay Area, CA - HOA looking to purchase security system
tomcctv replied to cksv's topic in Classifieds
Hi. i think survtech is from your area. might be worth dropping him a PM. he may know others in your area. -
Hi. Avtech dont deal with end users. and as you may have seen on many avtech websites firmware updates can void any warranty. but there are companies around that will flash your unit. but its price. since yours DVRs in that range have come down in price ...... so its a choice spend to fix or buy new. were are you based.

How? Cat5 solid to stranded power pigtail
tomcctv replied to prinler's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi. for power go direct from cat5 to camera with these and balunds for video. -
hi. does not sound like a good fix. it may all be lost. some DVRs are time reliant so you could be lucky if you try the following. 1. many DVRs that are just left to record for long times dont get maintenance done and you could be lucky in at some stage the date and time is out. if this is the date that came up when you switched back on check the year also. another way is when you reboot your dvr go into settings and set the system time to july the 5th and then reboot and do another search.

PC-based vs. stand-alone DVR
tomcctv replied to dorough's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
PC based systems have been around for a long time .... and you do have more control. standalone systems can be both. either linux or windows based. windows again gives more options and better upgrades. but it depends what you require from your system. -
hi. like every country its not a must with the power of the internet you can buy from anywhere in the world. but are they fit to use in your country
-
WOW. such an easy thing to sort out without spending money on lawyers. its not just the CCTV industry but over two years it has been on the top of the list. UL and the likes of CE certification have been around for a long time and also ignored by most. one easy way around it is to use a ISO company. as well as cctv or coffee makers / PC / mobile phones. all need to be tested and certified for the country they are going to be used in. UL and CE certification have become a big problem with being counterfit. non traceable. its not a big issue but the likes of insurance companies they always look for a blame. like i said its not just CCTV products. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/05/22/one-million-counterfeit-chinese-electronic-parts-used-in-us-military-report/ CE or ANSI is a place were you can check product listings if you buy from a ISO company then this will have already been done. the amount of people who ignor certification i.e ebay sellers who import are at the moment are a insurance company nightmare Phone chargers / imported game stations are also problems when they have by-passed UL or CE.
