DVR Help for a complete noob!
tomcctv replied to Loque's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
maplins is one of my pet hates. selling graded products (returns or crap) and then try and sell it on. there is not a week where we dont get a call from someone who has bought a system or camera from them. first thing is take your camera back if its got problems you dont need it. what is your budet. for what you need you can get a panosonic ip for not much money and this will also let you do away with usb recorder and record through your network. and view from your mobiles. -

hi. sounds like you are using the same ip address at both local and away from your network (if router is setup right) at home you would be using 192.168.0.x this is your local ip (wireless) you will need your external ip for when you are away from your home if you click here from your pc at home it will give you your external ip http://whatismyipaddress.com/ setup two DVRs on your iphone 1 with external ip and 1 with your internal ip -

hi a ship in open waters you will need satellite broadband 3g or wifi will not work. it used to be a silly price to setup but over the years its come down but still slow we use it on ships around the UK. not much good for 24hr remote viewing we have units sending recordings back every hour.

hi. you will need to give a lot more information. number of cameras / network if any / central location for system. but i think you are best giving your budget costs first

Need Urgent Help: Problems with Microphones\Audio
tomcctv replied to GulfCoastCCTV's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
hi. not all DVRs will playback audio some just allow you to listen in realtime. for a standalone you will need powered speakers as they dont have amps fitted. something like this. -
so if the op is on budget package from verizon ....... he should be able to do the same thing as a customer with a $200 a month package. (and you dont portforward port 80) it was just a option to call verizon before he spends another month trying to set it up. you should be able without portforwarding see your system over your LAN so a few things to look at. your link cable from router to dvr .... is it ok also how far is the cable run. the other is your q-see dvr its 5 years old whick I.E are you using some of there old units will not have support (old TVT )
-
hi. before you put anymore hours into the setup. call verizon to see if they have blocked your router. we helped a forum member last year over the net and got the system working. then last month verizon did a update and blocked portforwarding. even to the point you cant change the router. they will allow but at the next monthly rate up. we are looking at a work around at the moment but even then i think they will keep altering there routers. i think we are going to see alot of verizon customers comming on here once they have had a update done (just an excuse to get more money )

Problem connecting to qvis dvr with mobile network
tomcctv replied to Larso's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi from your work you are not on LAN you will be on WAN (your just connecting to your works network) 3g to WAN (the demo site) will be good on mobile you will have big bandwidth problems going 3g to 3g. (air to air internet) you could to save some bandwidth switch off cameras to the network that you dont need to view from remote. with 3g viewing the less cameras the better -
Problem connecting to qvis dvr with mobile network
tomcctv replied to Larso's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi. is your home network wireless and 3g or just 3g ???? you should be using two types of ip while at home it would be 192.168.x.x your LAN. but if your router is not wireless then you will have no LAN the reason why you can connect to the demo and get a good speed is its on a network ..... you will see your system being slower over 3g your data may be limited -

Problem connecting to qvis dvr with mobile network
tomcctv replied to Larso's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi. which mobile do you have ... and which app have you loaded ?? -
hi. before you buy any cameras look at the quality of the dvr. in your post you have 1 listed that says D1 good quality............ its not till you get to the spec that its D1 viewing live only recording is only done at CIF. which is no good for your setup (store use) Maximum Recording Resolution...................................................CIF (352 x 288) Recording Speed (Frame) 30 FPS per Camera (NTSC) / 25 FPS (PAL) please spend more on cameras than the budget q-see or owl. your looking at something to give your good images in a retail store.
