In Search of full D1 recording DVR cards that records to AVI
tomcctv replied to FranciscoNET's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
that is a good price for a 16ch....... how many ch are you looking for. So the bottom line is that I CAN'T compete with prices like these, at least NOT in my area, its useless, there have to be other manufacturers out there with much better prices with cards and software that matches my requirements. I am not going to put my business on standby, I will continue doing CIF installations and selling CIF based DVR systems UNTIL the day that I made aware of the D1 cards I am looking for at good prices, THEN I will immediately dump my CIF cards in favor of the D1 cards. they is many ways to sell dvrs and your way is wrong. you are selling to suit you and not your customer. you are selling to suit you and not what is needed for the install. a good installer will build a system not just for today but also for the future. and as an installer you should also educate your customer. like you said in your post cif play-back on your cards is bad, i bet you dont right that in your costing to your customer. D1 cards from ebay. for $60 what makes you think you can buy a crap card then build a system and still not call it crap. why not just install avtech or avermedia ready systems. it will save you lots of money. sorry i sound a little hard over this post but let me explain why, many guys on the forum work with many types of dvrs/nvrs and they install for the needs of today i myself use hybrid as the least i would install. just so the customer can go forward at a later date with ip. it does not matter were you are in the world customers will always get a few quotes and many guys on here will at some point be told that there quote is to high. a guy can do it cheaper buy $1000. your that guy. selling old cif systems. it is not good to sell systems that are already out of date. you will see alot of guys on here loosing out on install contracts and thats because they will not move on quality. sometime its best to walk away from a bad customer. -

i would stay away from wapa cards. very cheap end of the market. you see them on ebay for £10. keep looking at geovision or avermedia. both cards you can add to when you need more cameras. both have a very good cms software and will do what you need and more. http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Product/Detail.aspx?id=130 -

the quickest way is to get a usb extender i.e 5 port. and 5 moxa units. which will give you 5 com ports 1 for each register. http://www.moxa.com/product/UPort_1130_1130I.htm

this link to the pt head is nothing like the one in the first post. Really? I think the camera housing is very, very close to the OP. The PT mount is pretty close. (I'm discounting the lack of an arm in the second post as an optional accessory.) The proportions are off a little and there are some screw holes missing in the second post. I guess the question really is "What exactly is appealing about the first one and why not just order it from the original link?" so its not the same as the first post.

Avermedia EB1304MOB corruption issues persist
tomcctv replied to Scruit's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi bpzle. you need to ask avermedia usa why they are not selling the full avermedia mobile range. the uk one also has avermedias own 3g for remote viewing and also google tracking. http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Product/Products.aspx?CID=16 -
at the minimum you need an 8 camera system. and the price you have been given from a pro company is not that far off from you buying the equipment yourself. but if you want to install cheaper yourself then dont use cheap ebay crap. you would be better buying bits at a time i.e a good dvr and add cameras when you can. take a look at the adverts at the top of this page which will give you a good starting point.
