Hi Jim not a bad budget .... also reason for location.... forum is worldwide... no point giving you links until country was known but you budget is in £ so I guess UK one of the best systems on the market is TVT which is available in the uk and also has the best remote app of any other cctv company your budget should get you a 8way nvr and 4 cameras giving you more to expand

Hi. Jim i would look at a IP system ... much easier to get cables around your house and no need for extra power POE nvr systems also carry power over the same cable what is your budget

tomcctv replied to Michael_'s topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi. Michael i would not waste your time on the out of date aver equipment how many ip cameras and analog are you using why are you only looking at pc based -
Hi. I would keep it simple and cheaper yes analog splitters are available but it just seems a waster of money your only talking 15m ......so why not run your 4 cameras to your working (recording) dvr and just use a vga splitter to run two monitors .... then don’t use the dvr that does not record

16 camera system through the exterior wall?
tomcctv replied to ArmedRN's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi how are you running cables to each camera .... is this a home or business can you terminate power at an other location then left with just coax it also depends on what coax system your using... you can run 4 cameras down 1 coax another option is use cat5 which will take your cable count down as you can send more than 1 camera feed on cat5. ..... 4 cat5 instead of 16 coax -
Nice to hear your up and running ......it will take you a few months to get to know your system inside out and become a hobby. audio - I would keep your microphones on at important areas like your main front door and driveway area..... it is just as important as a camera in these locations recording audio state laws (public space) what state laws don’t explain properly is microphone use. they only explain public space like shop/stores gas station place of work and public streets and areas recording people’s own private conversations is illegal private domestic home. ( your own property) as people are entering a private property they have no protection of privacy in both video and audio people can also have verbal abuse on there own property so front door and car space audio is just as important cctv is a second set of eyes and ears nice to see you got all sorted in a short time
