1. Keth. that is a big camera for the front of your house. and if you are in the uk i would not waste your money. putting something that size on the front of your house will only bring more problems. it is ok to protect your own property. but to use something like the Dennard 2060 that will allow you to watch and zoom into public areas and other homes in your area. will just be a waste of money and you will be asked to remove it. like what has already been said forget trying to see number plates. yes you will see cameras that say they will read number plates and most can IF CAR IS PARKED or moving very slow. remember a cctv system is a collection of events i.e person entering doing damage or theft / what are they wearing / how many people / colour and make of car /how did they leave and the date and time.

Pelco Spectra IV PTZ Control question

hi. i would start at looking at the power ........... if you move the controls to move the ptz and the picture starts to flicker or go off. is a good indication that there is not enough power to run camera and move it.

AN TONE 4CH DVR

the best thing to do to save you problems is to swap the dvr. and put in something with support. take a look at avtech. the dvr you have is sold under 100s of manufacture names and its the cheapest dvr around. other names. CNM / SWANN / 4Tone / maplin / Byron / Tiempo / Castle. you have invested in a cctv system and you need it to do its job. its not your cameras just the dvr unit ....... pull it out replace with a avtech and relax.
5. Hi soundy ... ill be over your way soon ....so i hope the beer is on you.
6. it depends on were you are installing the cameras. on the track is mega money FIA have there own company for that in oxford. and they dont use cctv cameras.
7. hi keth. you would be better protecting your property and not the road. if you are in the uk you will have problems having a camera in a public place. getting number plates is an expensive application. money better spent on your protection of your home. for the front of your home i would look at one of these. it has some very good features . zoom on detection / flash on detection (makes people look were flash came from (image of face) and it does have a good range with ir 70m -70M range visible in total darkness with 70pcs of IR LEDs & 5~50mm lens -Supreme Resolution (600TV-Line : Color, 700TV-Line : B/W) -1/3" COLOR SONY Super HAD CCD Ⅱ : SK-P700IRD/M844AI -1/3" COLOR SONY WDR CCD : SK-P700IRD/M845AI -Huviron GenⅡ DSP -IR LED output level controllable via RS-485 (PELCO-D, PELCO-P) -3-Axis Bracket for 3D(Pan/Tilt/Roll) rotation -LWDR or Super WDR, DIS(Digital Image Stabilizer), 3D-DNR, Sense up(256X) -Day & Night function(ICR) -Split Glass Technology, Waterproof(IP67) -Using IR Lens to prevent defocusing(F1.2) -Fan & Heater for extreme temperature operation -All controls hidden behind an easy access door -Multi-language Full OSD support -12V DC or 24V AC Dual voltage -MULTI FUNCTION : Lens Shading Compensation, High Light Mask, Motion Detection, Impact Detection, Privacy Mask, Defect Pixel Correction, Freeze, Flip(H/V/Both), Digital Zoom SK-P700IRD/M845AI sunkwang

First farm system

Hi Davie. for what you are looking to do i would just have broadband connected to the phone line.and just use standard cctv cameras. going ip is just not the expence you need for this application. i would use the following. 4 CNB VCP551 1 avermedia eb3004 dvr 1 microphone this will allow you to zoom in when needed from your home pc or laptop or mobile. you have lighting in the barn so you will see everything as 4 camera display and mouse control zoom.
9. if your pos data is on the same network as your cameras then i would also look at avermedia software.

Quick question about cameras in rain

yes that camera is fine ......... very good camera but the problem i have with it is the bracket. and if you get a lot of snow it will move. plus the security side its not a good bracket. i would look at the CNB WFM-24VF/WFM-25VF much better bracket
11. Not quite, in the case of the Qsee anyway, please see the other thread related to that. That is a Dahua DVR, it blows away Avtech and Avermedia in the sub $300 range, and at much less money, I know, I have one here, and I just chucked the AvTech, AND I have the EB1304's in the field. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=23194 hi rory EB1304 finnished two years ago replaced with the EB1304 sata plastic and that stoped 14 months ago and the replacment is eb3004 sata and the new eb3004 sata plus with same screen as nv wipes floor with dahua

Coax cabling suggestions

i would just go with RG59 with power.
14. hi toaster. the problem with the clover and qsee and the other names they sell under CNM maplins. is they are very poor. no support bad back-up and to be honest i will alwat talk people out of buying the box systems. you go and test budget dvrs with brand names i.e avtech / avermedia /appollo and you will see they are far better with back-up and much better spec. it does not matter the persons budget its giving the best at budget price without having to buy better later.
15. hi johno2009. please do not look at maplins kit (other name cnm) uk is flooded with them. for a good budget brand look at avermedia EB3004 sata net. (people call it budget) but the new one has the same screen as sa and nv ill pm you a video. and as far as getting them on the internet for remote viewing 5 mins tops. free iphone app if you go to istore and download averdigi viewer i will also send you an ip address of a dvr you can view.

Advice on the Law

Hi Ian. yes your mother can put cameras in covert or not. but the problem comes to installing them in rooms. it depends on the sort of problem you are having. if it is like the case that was in the papers a few weeks ago i.e staff not doing there job like the nurse turning off the life support machine. then yes you will need a company to do it for you and in the rooms can only be a tempory system.
17. hi that drive is fine. and no yu dont need any cables as the dvr is sata anyway yu just plug it in

IDE HDD special type?

Hi halam. am having a hard time understanding your posts. you are making hard work for yourself ....... your first posts was what dvr to buy then you asked what H/D and we said it was best to order your dvr with it fitted........... you did not..........now your asking about differant H/D to buy and you are looking at pata. why. your dvr is on sata ...... WD black sata 1TB pc world £52.
19. Hi rory, Thanks for your feedback. True, I myself follow the hardware spec. to the dot, and thought the P4 will be suffice to handle the task (As I have a P4 system lying around doing absolute nothing and it will be good that I put it in good use). But obviously not!!! Even, the Pentium-D CPU cannot handle the processing job using 2 NV5000 DVR cards efficently. Every now and then, I can feel there is a bottleneck some where in the system. If all 8 channels are capturing moving objects, then the CPU has to work harder to catch up the load of compression and recording. The hardware spec on the Avermedia website has not been updated. Therefore, it will be wise for them to revise it because the information is definitely outdated. And...for your information, no anti virus software was installed on any of my CCTV PC. Thanks. can i ask why you used 2 nv5000 cards why did you not just use 1 card and a add on card to give you 8. and it would have been cheaper to have just used the nv6000 than buying 2 nv5000. the spec you have listed is for 1 card. and 1 BNC video extention card. to give you 8

have you ended your ip on the app with /mobile. if so remove mobile
23. tomcctv

Playback keeps stopping with "cif end"

you dont have a problem. it just down to how your dvr works. on some data will be saved in blocks by the hour (makes it easy to search) you just keep clicking on the file for that hour
