  1. Looking for a system where I can have about 4 cameras (preferably rated to below 40°C), connected to a system that can monitor through a local web portal, record with a DVR on motion sensing, monitor with android and backup to a NAS system (SMB, NFS, etc.). The camera needs to be wireless, doesnt need batteries, (blackout battery feature would be nice).

    1. 3-4 Cameras
    2. Wireless
    3. wired power, preferably battery backup
    4. DVR
    5. Motion Sensor
    6. NAS backup (SMB, NFS, etc.)
    7. Web monitor
    8. Android monitor (WAN)
    9. -40°C -> 30°C (Alberta weather)
    10. preferably 1080p, 720p fine
    11. wide angle preferably 100°+, 75° fine

Can u use IP radios with cameras?

When did u see -40 in Alberta last time?

    I am in Edmonton

  2. just purchased a network tester for cat 5/6

unit does length with or without remote distance to short or open

wire map with indication if failure is on far end or close end or somewhere in between. remote end beeps when it is connected. runs on 3 aaa batteries. The unit is labeled DBPOWER SC8108.

The reason I posted here is the price around 50.00 I have paid more than that for a simple wire mapper. I don't know how long this will hold up but it should make finding cable trouble a lot faster than just using a regular wire mapper.

We have had several cat 5/6 testers and paid much more for a unit that could preform all these functions.

    Thx for info

    I like this one

  3.

    Query

I've actually got one cam that states (+ tip) working on a (- tip) PSU! I know some, if not all? electrical devices can work with reversed polarity, a bit like a bulb element has no reason for polarity preference, but will this reverse polarity cause any damage to the circuitry in the cam? Although it's working perfectly for now!

    No way!

    if it's working for you

that means your cams are dual voltage or you provide wrong info

  4. Hi It seems to work,

But normally it's possible to configure the motion detection directly from Avigilon VMS ? Also with pixels,...

Why I can not see the little icon to configure it?

Does it mean UNiview camera are not really compatible with Avigilon VMS ?

    Thanks for your support!

Only Avigilon cam can be configured 100% from/within Avigilon client

  5. Hi,

We are working with UNIVIEW since 2 years in my company.

We are really hapy with them. For us, they are clearly the best between quality and prices.

One of our bug customer asked us to test if our camera could wotk with Avigilon VMS.

I'm trying this week end to make it work and it seems to work, but I cannot find the way to activate the motion detection.

Is there anybody who can help me ?

In the manual, Avigilon says that i could see the little logo "Motion detection" and configure it.

But there is no logo in the picture where i see my camera ?

Should I have to so something to make it work ?

    Thanks for your support

    Raphaël

You have to log into camera GUI and make sure motion is activated

then check if Avigilon receive motion alerts from camera

  6. As I understand correctly, when I use p2p, server plays role only to connect my phone and IP camera??

I have mobile app, suggested by vendor. There I scan QR code using phone camera, but is there any solution to do the same on PC (Windows)??

HIK IVMS 4200 will work using P2P

  7.

Then, I guess we can call it a hybrid P2P. In that case, what would happen to the DVR/camera access if the manufacturer stops hosting the central servers or simply goes out of business?[/quote]

    Then you screwed

The same as any other DDNS providers going down for any reason

  8. Hello. peer-to-peer (adjective) denoting or relating to computer networks in which each computer, or network device, can act as a server for the others, allowing shared access to files and peripherals without the need for a central server.

    not really

P2P for DVR/cameras does use central server

  9. If I add more light, I have the same blurry effect on moving cars or persons.

But now, please explain me why my analog camera is not blurry on moving objects ?

The analog camera is a 30USD chinese camera 540TVL with SONY effio sensor.

Most likely Analog and AHD have different shutter speed

Can u control shutter on AHD camera?

  10. I'm trying to install 2 cameras on a garage about 200 ft from the main house along with a few cameras on the house. Running a wire isn't an option, so I'm looking for the best way to do it wirelessly. I'm not sure if I should go with wireless cameras or IP cameras with a wireless bridge. There is a direct line of sight and my iphone can already pick up the wireless signal (weak) from inside the house.

    Any experience/suggestions?

    2 Ubiquiti IP radio

One as Station another as AP

    and u done

  11. Hi Guys !

I am working for a company at the moment who would like to install 5 cameras in their building. They would like to keep the cost low but want to use Avigilon cameras as they've been specified by the advisor.

I was wondering if anyone knew a way around buying a whole server for this system.

Can I use a laptop and leave it plugged in all the time or is this too unreliable?

any advice would be greatly appreciated !!

    Regards

    What the big deal

    build your own server

  12. Hi All,

Now that Hikvision have stopped their HIDDNS service and came up with the new hik-connect what do you guys think of it?

The Hiddns allowed me to setup a domain for my customers and llowed me to manage that and also allowed multiple users to use that domain. Now the hik connect only allows one use watch mobie viewing?? Am i doing something wrong?

any guides on using this new Hik connect app and hik connect it self?

You can still add Domain using HiDDNs

    but no management

  13. Ak357,

It's certainly a fun looking at these pictures, but it ain't no fun paying the camera to get them. I guess that the second and the third picture are digitaly zoomed from the first one, otherwise it wouldn't be any fun at all. Btw, what is the camera's resolution?

    16MP

  14. Whaterever camera resolution is used, your monitor will probably have max FullHD resolution (1920 x 1080 ~ 2 Mpix) so you won't see any difference in picture quality with 3 or 4 Mpix cameras unless you manually zoom in. Digital zoom from to 4 Mpix to 2 Mpix is only approx. 1.4 ratio, but much higher price ratio. You'll get better result with four 2MP cameras than with two 5 MP.

PoE IP or analog HD (TVI,CVI AHD) ? PoE IP is simpler for wiring, the analog HD is cheaper.

    just for fun

look what more pix can do for you

  15. Only IP cameras are capable of POE (power over ethernet)

2.1MP is not as common IP camera, but not impossible.

Typically IP cameras are 1.3MP, 2MP, 3MP, 4MP, 5MP. The larger the MP does not mean its more detailed. It means it captures more area. So if you got a 1.3MP camera and a 3MP camera, the 3 would not show a face better unless you zoomed in on a certain area. The 3 shows more area.

And if 1.3MP and 3MP have exactly the same field of view

would u agree that u will get more details?
