  1. proprietary wiring

systems that have proprierty wiring are just too expensive and everything has an extra cost. DVR goes down you cant just buy another unless the same but if you wanted to use or upgrade to something else you cant. not without extra costs.

most of the time these systems cost more than standard BNC

Well the writing isn't too bad , it is a RJ12 cable that has all of the Audio, Power, and Video in one. Also you can interchange it with BNC easily. Its plug and play and easy to switch cameras, and the cables and connectors are not too much either!

  2. Visit your local electronic store. For example in our stores there are tens of different car recording devices with different resolutions, outputs and other options. Some of them can record speed, GPS data, acceleration, sound. As a rule they are mounted on the wind screen or rear-view mirror. They are newfangled auto accessory, some my friends use them.

But I plan to make special bracket to mount hight-quality HD camcorder with good optical zoom in my car for traveling.

Yesterday in a store I seen a special glasses with 5MP camera for active sport and another waterresistant one for diving:)

The Go Pros are more for sport - but you can easily eBay a nice car blackbox for security !

  3. Hi All,

Looking for some help here. My uncle is looking to setup a system at his house to keep track of it (and the kids) while he's away. Right now he's thinking just three cameras. Two would be indoors and the third would be outside. The outside one would be mounted under a big overhang so would have near 0 chance of getting wet.

The goal here is low cost. But, the primary features that he wants are automatic recording when motion is detected, iOS app remote viewing, and the ability to pan/tilt the camera.

Can anyone suggest a good system setup that can handle this? Definitely going for lowest cost and ease of use. I'll help him set it up but needs to be simple for him to handle from then on.

more cameras would be easier and quicker then pan/tilt - and you can cover more space with it set up that way...
