    DIY Project - CCTV

They do not have IR. They have the Monalisa chipset and work very well in *low* light. Not so great in pitch black. I have a 60 motion light out front that is more than adequate to light up the whole driveway for these cams (CNB VCM-24VF). I'm very happy with them.

    Residential Townhouse Install

It actually doesn't block the view. The angle of that picture may give that appearance but I can actually see the houses behind me, all though a very narrow field of view.
  3. Very odd... I KNOW for a fact that I responded to this thread with a link to the PSS software. Can someone kindly explain why it was deleted?

    Windows

I tried installing my GV1480 on Windows 7 64bit and found it was not compatible. If you go 64bit, check with the manufacturer to make sure the card/software is compatible. I ended up installing Win7 32bit and it worked fine. Jason

    Help with power connection

The wire with the RS485 label is for communication between a controller (DVR) and the camera. You can access the OSD and make changes remotely. Your yellow BNC male is for video, the green connector with the screw terminals is for power. You should be able to safely attach any power supply between 12 and 24v and the camera will regulate internally. The green connector should have a + and - for polarity. Jason
  9. 1. Nice car bro I've got a 2010, looking to trade in for a 2012 soon! 2. In my state, that wouldn't be considered a breaking and entering since according to your youtube notes, he was living there for two months. Unless you had served an eviction notice and given proper notice or you had a trespass notice in place. 3. Sounds like he's going to be staying with the "neutral" co-worker. 4. Kool-aid is amazing. 10. Stability and security? A properly managed Linux install would be your best bet. I've never used ZoneMinder before, but I understand that it's a popular Linux CCTV management system.
  11. I'm preparing a bid for an install and would like some advice/confirmation on my selection. The attached picture is the proposed location of the lone outdoor camera (budget constraints). I'm most likely going to purchase a used long range box cameras suchs as "Samsung SCC-131A/B Super High Resolution Security Camera W 5-100mm Auto-Iris Lens" and put it in an enclosure under the eave. The black arrow drawn is the target area, this is the only ingress and egress for vehicles into the parking lot and we would like to capture as much detail as possible about everyone who enters the property. I'm hoping for even license plates, does this sound feasible with a 5-100mm lens honed in on that area? I've guesstimated that the target area is approximately 90' from the building. Thanks for the advice! Jason

Assitance with camera type to choose

Not sure how I missed that auto zoom camera... Looks like a good solution for only $40 more. For the other one soundy, I found the LUX specs: Color: 0.02Lux@F1.2 B/W: 0.005Lux@F1.2
  14. Here is a quick video from my Qvis 8ch PRO Dvr. Channel is set at 7fps D1, CBR 1024kbps. Camera is a CNB VCM-24VF. Am I expecting too much for what I have? Video just seems.. blah.. maZkZepjdxs Any idea what would make the video skip like that at 11:59:20 to 11:59:22 ??

    IR Bullet Cam Reflection

That would depend on the type and model of the camera, which you haven't provided.

    questions

Im no expert. But I think the most you can get out of that unit is 7 fps at d1 on all channels simultaneously or 13-30 fps on ch1 and CIF on the rest. Jason
  17. You take Megapixel cams so seriously in other threads.. Didn't think you had a sense of humor
  18. How can I use a 13" CRT television with a standard coax input to test and focus my cameras? Can I just crimp an F type on one end of a cable and a BNC on the other? Jason
