  1. I'm not arguing the fact that they may have the best product in the market (hence my desire to buy) I'm only saying that their "established channels" are dropping the ball with me, and from the sounds of it, a lot of other people as well. Imagine how "stellar" the growth would be if they could actually cash the checks of the rest of the people who are looking to buy, but hitting brick wall after brick wall.
  2. Whoa, we have a breakthrough, someone finally gave a ballpark! Seriously, how is a company supposed to sell a product if no one can divulge how much it costs, nor will they respond to repeated customer inquiries. Amazing.
  3. I have the swann system (which has now been removed from the site) Ordered a lorex from costco today, I figure I will return one of them once I play around with them. I can tell you the swann mobile app is crap, but the lorex netHD mobile software is pretty nice, and works with the swann NVR flawlessly. Maybe it is just me but I feel like lorex is more likely to update/support their product as opposed to swann? At any rate, I wil report back on which I decide to actually keep.
  4. Ugh, been dying to know how much one of these costs. No integrators will give me prices, and everyone in the forum treats it like it is a guarded secret, why?
  5. I imagine they come ready for DHCP, so this step is likely not needed right? Or did you do something other than IP config (or was DHCP disabled by default)?
  6. Anthony, do these cameras run at 2048×1536 resolution? Not sure, waiting on my POE switch to test with. Should know before long and will report back here.
  7. @buellwinkle I should have sent you two to check the soft edge thing, the one I opened up and have here playing with definitely has the soft right edge, curious to see if the one I sent you is the same way or not.
  8. I have this cam assuming it is the same one that came with the NVR 4 cam package and can confirm that the right edge is indeed soft during daytime. Got the cam today and havent seen nightfall yet.
  9. Do you know how to get the cameras talking straight to Blue Iris? I see there is RTSP support on port 554, but I havent been able to connect to it yet, and not too sure how I would do that since the NVR only has a single IP, are you saying you bypassed the NVR completely? I was trying to connect to the rtsp port with VLC.
  10. My new cameras arrived today form costco. Seems like a pretty solid bundle for the price. Noise is not like a hairdryer as has been reported, but definitely not something you would put in your family room or something. Mine is gong in a utility room so I didnt care. Night has not set yet so I cant speak to that, but the daytime cam is great. Here are the things I think are real downsides, and may prompt me to return the package: 1. No mac support, meaning you can view or playback anything from a mac. I do have a windows desktop and tested the web interface in both IE and Chrome, and it is indeed superb. Was worried I was going to get watered down video unless I had a monitor plugged into the NVR, but can report that is not the case. The windows support was great, no mac support at all, ouch. 2. iPad/iPhone apps are absolutely terrible! I have not looked for alternatives, but I am suspecting there wont be any. The real big showstopper is no support for viewing your cameras when you are not at home. Which for me defeats the purpose of even having a camera. You gotta be able to view these things from the road, c'mon guys. Also, there is no excuse for an app published so recently to not support the iPhone5 screen, insane. 3. I cant get any of the recorded mp4 clips to play in either quicktime or windows media player for some reason, this might be user error, but should have been more obvious. Still playing around trying to make this work, I'm fine using the web interface to play stuff, but like having the option to export stuff too. 4. It is unclear how to connect to the RTSP port, anyone able to connect? Overall I am just really torn, love some stuff, hate other stuff. I suppose the stuff I hate can be changed with new software, real question is how dedicated is swann to fixing the deficiencies?
