You are absolutely right you don't need it at least not till something happens and the (Bleep) hits the fan. You install cr@p you get cr@p I see this everyday, Just yesturday a client of mine called me that they had a detective there and wanted video off the system, I later found out the store accross the street got robbed and the cops couldn't get a good picture of the guy that robbed them off the stores cheap camera system. So they went accross the street to see if they can get something which they did. Are you sure? This is your family we are talking about, god forbid something happens and you regret your comment.

Make sure you get the kit not just the tool it a little more but you'll kick yourself in the butt later.......

I like both but both ha the pros and cons Direct bnc nice & clean but when you have it on a shelf you have to have enough room for the dvr and another 5 to 6 inches for the cable pigtails you can adjust them to fit your needs but i can never get them straight no matter how hard i try. I also have to strap the cables to the wall so not to put stress on the pigtails

Ok Here is the update, I called my distributor and the sayed they got it back supposely fixed but when it was charged overnight and they tested it it was the same the battery indicates only 3/4 and . The distributor says they sent it back (this time 2 nd day air). I let is go a few days and called my rep to see what is going on and asked them to replace the unit. They gave me "well it's been 2 months", But i told them i was having problems from the get go they said it cant be that they sell alot of them and never had a problem and give it a couple of days.... Now on friday i snapped called the rep he told me to call the company directly, so i did the company offered to send me out a new replacement . I received it on tuesday charged it overnight heres what i got 7:15 am turned it & sat it on my desk one battery indicates 3/4 7:28 am battery indicates 1/2 7:40 am battery indicates 1/4 7:53 am battery indicates empty i called the company they told me to charge it over night and test it till it won't turn on again and thats what i am doing now with pictures and video What else am i suppose to do? Now please be honest with me and give me your opinions on what you would have done or would do...... Should me distributor just give me a new one or what? Guys i was told i was to get it back today will let you know the outcome, They told me there was something wrong with my unit NO SH$% they supposely fixed it and are returning it to me... Will test it as soon as i get it....

Ye I see that when i go to europe when there is a fire the homes walls stay up just replace the roof rafters and home is ok again, But here we loose everything we call it matchstick homes even 5 or 6 story condo units. Just wood..

I agree your going to spend money after the fact to get a picture you should of had in the biginning. I don't think any video software will get you the brightness you want, Also if you edit that video it becaome inadmissible in courtroom....

Noting makes your family safe unless you put them in a castle with a moat even then someone will still find a way in. Tell that to someone that had there car broken into in there driveway and nothing to show police, Or god forbid someone gets assaulted near your house and the police see cameras up and ask to see the video. Those are decent cameras but the IR takes detail away from the face & body. I don't think i've had a job that i have only used one camera model for every view. Unless it's indoors. In this business there isn't a kit you can buy to give you the best picture needed, I wish there was.
