    Brand-new Sony SNC-CS20N

Hi All: Looking to offload a brand-new Sony SNC-CS20N left over from a recent install. This camera has never been removed from the box. More info can be found at: http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/mkt-security/mkt-securityfixedcameras/product-SNCCS20/ Asking price: $450.00
  2. Dual streaming...sweet! The high-end Sony P/T'S support three codecs: H.264, [MP4, & MJPEG] albeit not in the order you're quite looking for, but hey its good enough. The SDK IS availble but not very friendly. I know a guy who knows a guy whose friend pulled it off. Best o luck
  3. Howdy... We get this one all the time...Listen to the Wireguy cuz he knows his stuff. Anyone with a name like that definitely gets his hands dirty. I've had some bettter than expected results from Sony's SNC-RX550N, SNC-RX530N, SNC-RX570N. I've heard of this Inscape company but never tested their equipment. If you wanna do it right, you gotta set-up an wireless Access Point and Client. I've had some phenomenal results with Microtek wireless ethernet systems. Trust me when I say they are cake to install. http://www.microtekelectronics.com/
  4. Hey all, Had a customer today who asked me the following, "Can I view all nine of my cameras on the go using my PDA or smart phone..." At first I didn't know what unit I was going to sell the fellow, but I eventaully selected a fine unit which I hadn't realized supported this function. It seems like all the well known dvr manufacturers do not offer PDA viewable client s/w. I mean, if all the little guys with their "me too" products can pull it off beautifully, why not the "been around the block guys"? Why is this feature not standard on all units? I realize its not as simple as just streaming some video to a device for viewing-there is always the inherent backbone problems such as available bandwidth, not to mention viewing nine cameras on a screen unsuitable for even a single camera. Any dealers, integrators, or hobbyists have any experiences with this stuff? A.B.C.

What is the highest CCTV camera resolution?

This is by far one of the most common security related questions I have run into. If you are interested in the details of camera resolution I highly recommend Vlado Damjanovski's latest CCTV & network video book, its excellent and authoritative. According to him the highest resolution attainable by a B/W analog camera is ~600 horizontal TVL. Colour cameras on the other hand will always be lower if you are comparing oranges to oranges. Naturally, of course, you can find a monochrome camera with a higher specified resolution than a colour camera. The highest colour resolution that I have seen quoted was for an unreleased Speco IR-bullet camera, but, you will typically come across cameras of upwards of 550 TVL of hor. res. Dan
  6. Was thinking about using a few of these cameras for an installation around my convenience store. Would definitely appreciate some feedback, good, bad, or otherwise. Thanks guys and gals. Dan

CNB BE3815NVR question on picture quality

Topspin, You must dissable the D/N function in order to activate your illuminators at night. This camera does not have a AGC switch per se; rather, it is termed 'DC IRIS.' Only increase this a bit as it will boost the noise as well as the video signal. This will manifest itself as unwanted instability that appears to be crawling over your screen like a colony of ants; it's bad, so just tweek it a big. I would listen to your sales representaive because if he or she is like mine, they know their ****. Its funny, many times I call the manufacturer only to find out they know next to nothing about the product in question. Doc.
