  1. I wanted to take a minute of everyone’s time to talk about my experience with Intellicam USA, Inc. I am in no way affiliated with either company and I am a end-user. I had purchased two day/night cameras (ISC-P540X) from their reseller Shoreviewsecurity.com on 4/11/08. I have tried a lot of different cameras over the years and IMO these have been the best so far. After about 7 months of using the cameras I noticed that I had a few IR’s on each camera that were not working anymore. I put off sending them in to get them repaired because that would mean that I would have to un-mount them and be without coverage until they returned. After 11 months I thought maybe it would be for the best since they both came with a 1 year warranty and I was worried that I may lose more of the IR’s. So I did just that and sent the cameras back for warranty repair. After about a week I received the cameras back and both had new IR units in them, however it appeared that UPS may have mishandled the package and I was unhappy with the cosmetic condition of the cameras when they returned. I called Mike at Shoreview and voiced my concerns. He readily offered to do the right thing and wanted to know what he could do to make amends. I told Mike that I appreciated his offer but that he shouldn’t have to take the hit on something that was not his fault. So I called Intellicam and spoke with the owner Gerald. Gerald was very apologetic and immediately offered to send me two brand new cameras saving me the hassle of filing a claim with UPS and again being without cameras for a period of time. I received the new cameras today as promised and I am very happy with the outcome. In today’s marketplace how do you measure a company’s success and greatness?? Well I measure it by good customer relations and the willingness to stand by your products even when an issue arises that’s no fault of your own. Both Intellicam and Shoreview Security did just that for me and I greatly appreciate it. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone and will buy from them again. I hope that this helps others in there decisions to purchase CCTV equipment and puts any fears at ease if you have never bought from them before. Thanks for listening.

    RECOVERY OF LOST DATA

I actually happen to be a data recovery expert, I've recovered dozens and dozens of drives, pm me an email address and I will try to help out tomorrow
  5. yep, I had sorta the same issue with a Hitachi TV, they told me it would cost $1100 to fix a known defect (tv should have been recalled since every tv made during that time period was affected) on and off the phone with them for several months, they said they would do nothing since it was out of warranty, one class action law suit and a report to the BBB later they were my best friend and fixed it for free.
  6. Not to pick any side or to say that he's wrong, but in their defense he did post video of their techs and provided MattS full name. They should have their anonymity too.

DVR decision (or maybe PC based)

Finding something in your price range as well as having those requirements is easy. I would go the standalone DVR route since you dont have a pc already and would need to incur that cost on top of the card and would only be using the pc for the surveillance system. A decent card will cost you $400US (you have to convert that ) and the pc well you know the prices of those over there better than I would. Anyway for the DVR my unbiased opinion would be for Intellicams LTA-RT4, it is very easy to use and has all (and then some) of the options that you are looking for. It even comes with a 4yr warranty on the DVR and the 250GB hard drive that comes with it!! Again, I am not a reseller nor do I work for them, I just like giving credit where its due. You can actually buy it from them (although there not the cheapest) or if you do some searching on that model number or a variant of it (some places change it a little) like SV-RT4. The cheapest RETAIL price I could find was $369US I dont know what kind of shipping it would cost to send it over there but I imagine you may be able to find these units there as well. They come out of Korea (I think). I have personally owned several DVR's from them and find them to be a great bargain for the money. Heres a link to the spec sheet on it http://www.shoreviewsecurity.com/LTA-RT4[1].pdf I dont know the main manufacturer of this unit so I hope I am not breaking any rules by posting the link and the price I listed is retail, anyway if so I will pm you this info as well, dont want to ruffle any feathers Hope I have helped you out and good luck.

    Eclipse ECL-360XP Issue

Has anyone used this camera made by Eclipse? This is the second one the retailer has sent me and it still shows these white dot artifacts (see pic) is this normal or am I expecting too much for a clean image from this camera? Thanks

    Eclipse ECL-360XP Issue

Thanks Army!! Yeah they said they benched this one before they sent it out (because the first one had the same issue) I think that they didn't look at the feed in low light were the dots are prevalent. I sent an email to Tony at CCTVOutlet to see what he thinks. Thanks again for the info, I knew I wasn't crazy

    BW High Res Bullet

I also stumbled across this bullet camera: Specs- http://www.videocamerasecurity.com/VBX-49V56H/VBX-49V56H.pdf They also claim it has a IR Cut Filter. Has anyone ever used it?

    BW High Res Bullet

I would be interested in this camera aswell if anyone finds it please pm me. I also came across these two interesting videos from Sony. The first deals with lux and how Sony defines it. The second is on there new Exwave 640, looks hot. http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/cat-securitycameras/resource.solutions.bbsccms-assets-cat-camsec-solutions-minIllumination.shtml mms://sony.wmsvc.vitalstreamcdn.com/sony_vitalstream_com/ExWave640.wmv
  21. This may have been done, but a quick search didn't yield anything, I'm looking for the best (of course) BW camera for outdoors. Color doesn't matter to me as long as the pictures good. I have noticed that there is a trend on the specs as you can get one with a Sony 1/3 Ex View that delivers (allegedly) 600tvl at .01 Lux and then one with the same type chip only it delivers 480tvl at 0.0003 lux. I dint care if it has IR, in fact I would rather not have it for glare and reflection purposes if I mount it in my vehicle. I was looking at the following models by KT&C and wanted to get your opinions on them or if you had another model in mind. I really dint want to spend more than $200 retail. Thanks. KPC-600BH 600tvl 0.01 lux KPC-CH 480tvl 0.0003 lux (dint know why this has a lower res but better lux than the one above) KPC-WYN(H) 600tvl 0.05 lux
