  1. that pic looks a little better saved on my desktop before i upload to photobucket and link to it from here....how do i do an export from dvr, i thought thats what i did when i took a snapshot?

Are you sure that cameras in focus??? It should be alot better than what your getting. There seems to be alot of lines in it, interlacing issue, interference?? Maybe just the lines in the deck and railing throwing me off or something. I use photobucket and it doesnt scale my pictures at all...

  2. Banned What for?? He was one of the few people (besides yourself and a couple others) that took the time to answer alot of the questions on here. Even the ones that have been asked a 100 times over.

  3. All,

I have a used Hikvision DS-4008HCI card that I used in my system before I went to IP cameras. I purchased it new and it comes with DVR Pro software as well as Linovision software for Windows. Paid $400 for the card and a extra $100 for the software, selling it all for $150 firm plus actual shipping to your place. Thanks, Glen

  4. Zohan and Rory,

I'm trying to decide between the Blue-I and the Monalisa myself and was wondering if you ever found out which was better? Do either of you have any sample pics from each we could compare. THANKS! Glen

  5. I'm sure this is covered so I will just add to this thread Its been a while since I posted here and have not been keeping up with this technology. Of course a friend asked me for advise and I want to give him the good stuff. Two questions, it will be 4 outdoor cameras with little to no light, for whatever reason he doesn't want domes but wants the all in one type enclosure (small). Does CNB have one like that that you guys would recommend (weatherproof type) that would have all the bells and whistles for low light conditions? Second, the runs for each camera would be between 75'-100' should I use siamese or do the cat6 or 7 thing with the video baluns? If I use the video baluns anyone ever see any issue with running the power over a pair in the same case as the video is running? I thought about getting shielded cat7 just in case to lower any interference. As always thanks for your time and info. Glen

  7. Those are some good points. Unfortunately I have not personally used the system

I was just going by stated specs alone and your right, those other things for the novice end user are a must. I'm so use to working with so many different kinds of units that I get use to just figuring it out on my own. Maybe someone else has better first hand experience with it?

  8. is this camea any good. i have local guy try to sell me for 100 each

Dont know about those cameras but if your going to go the Costco route get the Q-See 528 eight camera. Comes with four cameras that are probably just ok but you can then get four better quality ones yourself.

The best deal is that it does D1@30FPS on all eight channels!! Pretty decent kit for $599 IMHO. Heres a link to the cheesy demo video http://syndicate.sellpoint.net/Syndicate/AptViewer?play=M04Z3G-330981&1=1&vsr_sku=null and this one is to the product page [edit by mod-store link removed]

I've long moved onto a IP camera setup but if I have relatives or friends that dont want to spend that kind of money I would recommend this to them. Seems like most of the complaints are on their tech support and customer service but I think you can figure it out. Good Luck!!

  9. I found out what Continuous/Motion does. It continuously records same as Continuous mode, but will highlight change the color of time periods in the search function screen showing periods of motion during recording... usually. I found playing with it that with a lot of obvious motion (me walking around in front of the cameras) it won't always flag a period in time as sensing motion. It's inconsistent.

I did find one function that is completely useless and that is email notification of motion events. It sends snapshots, but rarely do they capture what the camera actually saw during the event. So far it also has only sent images from one camera even though I set it to send images from 2 cameras. The email will show which channels had motion events, but only one channel is ever shown.

I'm still unable to control search functions or see video using Internet Explorer even following the instructions in the manual. I can see live video of one camera at a time using Firefox and Safari, but cannot control search functions. With any browser I can change most of the settings.

I still like the system as I feel it's a good value for the price, but the lack of a quality user manual and the quirks of the software make it somewhat frustrating to setup. I've emailed support several times and to date have not gotten any calls or return emails.

    Hello,

Just curious, is this the same one the Costco sells for $550 (RETAIL) Also, I cant seem to find the manual to download. What is the best video/res/frame rate you can set for all 4ch? In other words does it do D1 on all four channels at 30fps or will it do D1 on all 4ch at a lower frame rate? I'm debating on recommending it for a friend but just need the real specs. Do you have any sample video or snap shots you can post?

    Thanks.

  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, the demo is only good for 30 days and cant be added to the 4 channel license, so really your selling just a 4-channel license of the Nuuo right? I have used both softwares and found the Nuuo to be very feature rich and less buggy than exacq IMHO. Just curious what you see in Exacq software that is better than Nuuo. I'm not a reseller of either so I am unbiased.

  11. If it is still getting reflection from the IR LEDs then the rubber/foam ring is not touching the glass which is a R&D failure. One option is to move the camera forward more so the ring sits on the glass, make your own ring using store bought rubber or foam, or using small pieces of double stick tape attach the ring to the glass and adjust it as you put the cover on so it fits over the lens.

Or ofcourse use the new glass cover with the additional ring.

I prefer the 2nd one because Acti offers the new glass for free

Do they make you send the whole camera back just to replace that piece??? I have four of these cameras and have already had to eat shipping of one back to them for the IR's going out. That would blow if I had to send all four back when they can just mail me the piece.
