Hi everyone--Starting out here in Palm Beach, FL

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just starting out my cctv business. Im still in the beginning phase and finding out what the city requires and the state. So far, nothing complicated.

So far I've set up 1 system. My own house. With a DVR system I got off eBay. So thats the only exp I have so far. I do have an electronics and electrical background, so this stuff fits me.

If anyone else is in the FL region and wants to fill me in for what Im in for, I'll appreciate it and looking forward to talking to you all!

--Thanks--

Home Theater would sum it up the quickest.

We work with builders putting in tv wires, telephone wires, internet wires, intercoms, central vac, sat wiring, and alarm prewire.

For the next level we install speakers for surround sound, and install wires in wall for plasmas, and LCD tv.

The next level is custom design, and installation.

It starts with a rough in, and then you do a trim out before they turn it over to the customer, and then you have a training phase with the customer.

Sometimes you will only be doing the basics, and once you get with a customer, then you will find out their needs. We sell amplifiers, receivers, CD players, DVD players, music servers, cables, TV mounts, rock speakers, planter speakers, floor speakers, and in wall speakers.

We also can take equipment that was not designed to work together, and use electronic componets to make everything work in sync.

Before I lost a showroom to the hurricanes, we had everything hooked up to "one switch". As a demo we would flick on one switch to simulate coming home, or waking up in the morning.

Music would play from ceiling speakers, lights would turn on, others would turn off, and others would fade down, ceiling fans would turn on, a plasma TV would turn on, and the news would come on briefly, and then a movie would start then a shower would turn on so that it would be warm by the time you jumped in. The shower was easy. We had a solenoid that bypassed the valve so that water would flow, and it was controlled by 12 volts.

Tv can be a pain in simple home automation systems. TVs that do not have one code for on, and another code for off can be difficult to work with. There are sensors that can detect if a product is on, or off, and you can use this signal to control other items. There are products that detect audio, or they detect video sources, and you can use those to change sources on receivers, or Televisions.

We also do security work where we install alarm systems, or custom alarm systems. We also install video surveillance systems.

We also work with local nightclubs. We sell, install, and program intelligent lighting. This is what you see on stage as snowflakes turn to the american flag, and the lights dance all over the stage, as the colors change.

We can set up a DJ booth, and a dance floor.

If they are doing a sport bar, then we can install all of the cables, the TVs, speakers, sat dishes/receivers, amplifiers ect.

We also do a lot of other stuff during buildouts. We may be installing black lights, or X10 to turn lights on, and off such as house lights in a club, we order vinyl, and we will place them on mirrors, and such. We will put the clubs logo, or name on large wall mirrors, or on walls. We install LED lights under pool table such as what see used under cars. We may have to remove electrical cords, and replace them to get the length that is needed. Imagine hanging pool table lights from 20 ceilings in a night club that used to be a super market in its previous life.

We try to come up with decorationg tricks that are simple cheap, but provide a large impact.

There was a club that had a long narrow entrance to get to the "pay" window. We took a round staircase banister, and we cut it in half to give us a long rounded piece of wood. We took metal tape used in air conditioning, and we put it in the long semi cirlcular dowels.

This was installed from the three foot to six feet high. This gave chrome lines pointing all the way to the window. Cheap, but high impact!

We have taken moulding, and made squares, and put them on the walls diamond style, and they trimmed aluminum foil that was attached to the walls. Cheap, and high impact. OK purple walls with pink, and coral trim is a little out there, but it worked!

We repair a lot of wire connections on POS stations as they get abused alot.

There is always something to be repaired in nightclubs, and bars!

Lighting, audio, video, internet, video surveillance, cable, or satellite, alarm, and on, and on.

We are planning a showroom where all of these items can be displayed, and we are planning several showrooms in various cities.
