Arecont AV1505DN low light performance

Recommended Posts

I am looking for some feed back on the low light performance of this mega-pixel camera.

The specs give a 0.3lux F1.4 colour rating, which sounds too good.

There is no reference to the IRE level this is measured at so it could mean anything.

Anyone tried it?

There are a few 5MPx cameras that have a similar spec of .3lux @ f/1.4 in colour. One of the things I would be checking with the Arecont camera is Auto Iris. And if available on this Day/Night model, also is it Auto Iris by the Lens or a camera function. I coudn't find these answers on the web site.

I think they make three different 5105 models:

1) day only

2) Day/Night

3) Day/Night with AI

I must have missed the AI model, could only find colour or DN.

Also the lens that comes with the camera is advertised as the 4-10mm which does not appear to have AI or be IR corrected.

You are looking at the AV5155 not the AV5105.

AV5105 - Day

AV5105DN - Day/Night

AV5105-AI - Auto-Iris

That shot was taken using the Snapshot setting in the NUUO MiniNVR as far as I know Arecont doesn't have a "save image" built into the camera like Axis does.

That image is 2048 by 1280.

I know how to print screen but I don't have a monitor big enough to get the whole image when I log into the web gui. Is there a way to save the image in the web interface?

I have to update my Arecont software to support this camera.

It is very impressive for the crappy Arecont 4mm lens. I can wait to see the difference when the Computar lens arrives. Also one thing to keep in mind bandwidth during the day isn't bad but the night images can get out of hand very quick. I wish Arecont had bandwidth controls like AXIS and ACTI cameras do.

I dont understand how low light bandwidth is higher then daytime

that strange to me

image quality control by Arecont soft will give some control over bandwidth

H.264 compression............ if I set it to MJPEG the bandwidth would be constant

At night the "noise" in the image is being seen as motion, with some I and P frame compressions at 80% or more motion within the scene it goes to full images, hence the higher bandwidths at night

I did not realise that he is using Arecont H.264

I was under impression we are talking about Mjpeg camera
