DVR online keeps going down

Recommended Posts

I have a CP CAM 8ch dvr I have been using for a few years now. The issue I am having, is that when i try to view remotely it works for a few months then suddenly stops. if I reconfigure it will work for a few days then stop, Sometime when I reconfigure it can last almost 6 months. I am using a Dynamic IP adress and dyndns for hosting behind a linksys router.

Is it maybe because I need a static ip adress that will keep it running constantly. The dvr is being used in my business.

Not really sure of the issues.

What model CP Cam DVR do you have?

The dns should keep you connected. This should not be a problem.

DHCP? No problem with dns.

Reconfigure? What does reconfigure mean?

I mean "what are you doing"? Is this the clue that might direct us to your "actual" problem?

Perhaps you can call your ISP, and find out what their terminology is for the troubleshooting tool that they have where they record your connection for 24 hours to see if you link goes down?

I do not know if your problem is ISP related, or router related.

What is Reconfigure?

Keep Track of IP Address on your DVR Side (when it works and when it don't)

If the IP is different double check with your DDNS if it match no problem with DDNS or Dynamic IP if not you know what to do

Very few ISP block hosting on Dynamic IP call ISP and confirm

tell more about the configuration what do you mean?

Where did you set the DDNS settings? On the DVR or the router?

I've previous have this problem .. the DDNS Client is reporting the IP address of a proxy server instead of my IP address .. it would be safer to set the DDNS on the router instead ..
