New House, first fix electrics stage

Recommended Posts

just running a few cables for the future, incase i go CCTV as the house is well back from the road and hidden, anyone to hear an alarm wouldnt find the house that easy. . .

anyway. .

heres what im doing, , ,

running RG59 to camera points

running Cat 5e to camera points

and running a 2 core cable for powering up the cameras. . .

Question, the 2 core i got from the supplier is 2 X .75mm2. is this cable ok for powering up?

would be great if i could get a response asap as im wiring today. .

Thanks

If you will use AC mains power to cameras (housings), you should use 3*1.5 cable, due to safety.

Hi. all cables you intend using are fine. its a good idea to future prof your cable so as you can go standard or ip and extra from sound or telementry.

Most cameras would use 12 volt DC, or 24 volt AC.

I would run RG 59 Siamese wire. This will give you the a 18 gauge two conductor wire for the power.

cant get the siamese cable anywhere this weekend, seems to be only available on internet. i needed this weekend.

I just hope the 2 X.75 cable is enough to carry the power.

we ran it all this evening, 8 camera points around a H shaped house. .

1 rg59

1 cat5e

1 2X.75mm
