PTZ hook up to DVR

Recommended Posts

HI, First let me introduce myself. I'm John, and I'm a newbie where CCTV is concerned.

I'm hoping this is the correct place to post question.

I have a stand alone DVR that supports PTZ cameras in Pelco-P and Pelco-D mode.

I have a TOSHIBA IK-DP30A PTZ CAMERA that supports Pelco-P or D mode. and I want to

connect them together. Here's the problem... the owner's manual for my Chinese brand DVR

doesn't make a lot of sense to begin with and there isn't any explanation on hooking up the wires.

On my DVR, the post for connection to the PTZ are labeled A-B and com ground. the connections on the camera

are labeled TX+, TX-, and RX+, RX-.

Can anyone tel me how to hook these two beast together?!

Really? wow, that seems so simple its hard to get my head around how 2 wires can control all that!

Thanks Tom, for the fast reply. I really appreciate it.

If that blows your mind then you should see when you have five or six PTZs all hooked up in serial off that same cable pair

Yeah, you're right Umbru. although, once I got it hooked up and running I saw how it worked, I have a better understanding of how its done.
