How about this instead of using a Power Supply

Recommended Posts

There was a discussion before about this type of power supply, and if I remember correctly the consensus was against using it.

Just like how a $30 camera will show you an image, it will be no where near as good as a $100 camera.

Basically will the PC give you the correct amps to push the cameras? Ofcourse depends on what cameras you use. Also, it has no protection at all, no fuses, nothing. With all the issues that can happen with incorrect power connections/supplies, it is best to keep it seperate and use the real thing.

PC Power supplies are built for PCs, CCTV power Supplies are built for CCTV cameras.

what I do is I'll bump up one of the fuses in a CCVT Power Box to 3 amps and then extend that 12vdc/3amp down to another distro box with ONLY 1 amp fused outputs. i add up the max amps used by all devices (camer'a, active baluns, ect.) and then allow for .5 overhead. works great and I've never had a problem.
