Wavereader connection problem

Recommended Posts

On an installation We've got multiple pc's connected with Wavereader to a DVMRe.

Untill last week.

Apparently one PC was equiped with a VPN software, to be able to connect it to the outside world via the local network.

Unfortunately, this broke down the Wavereader connection. Wavereader still opens, but can't make any connection to the DVMRe. Video cannot be made available, and also the system info can't be uploaded anymore.

Although all other network functionality is still working.

And the other pc's who haven't got the software adaptations can also still connect to the Wavereader and see video.

Are there any parameters which can be checked on the PC in order to see if Wavereader could have a problem with video.

Any ideas where to look for??

Many thanks,

Don't know much about wavereader, but it sounds like both the VPN client and Wavereader are using the same TCP port to communicate, see if you can check that out and just change the port on the VPN client.

Don't know about that.

Will check it out.

What do you mean; that the VPN software takes the incoming information from the DVMRe, which were sent to the Wavereader??

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and what it does is creat a connection between two computers or two networks over the internet. What is special about it is that the traffic that is sent is encrypted. Usually what it does is take all of the internet connections and route them through proxy server. Then it compresses the packets, encrypts them and routes them to the other proxy server. Then the client machine decompresses and decrypts them, in real time.

dont know much about VPN, but if it helps, WaveReader uses port 1024 to connect to the DVMRe.
