  1. yeah i was thinking the same things with the bolts....Thanks for the response .UPS would be a good idea as well
  2. Hey guys Figured I would bring my problem to the think tank and see how best to solve. So I have been running a DVR with 16 cams and three are mounted on a barracks hangar type of building this structure/building is all metal and has a bunch of electrical panels in it for maintenance jobs such as welding etc. I originally ran cat5 to all three cams and utilized passive baluns that run coax lines to the DVR. Each camera has its own transformer in the hanger/structure. I used thick cushion type rubber 1/2" to mount the cameras to this building Thats the back story. This was about a year and half ago.. I have dealt with a bunch of weird issues concerning the dvr and have had to have it rma'd 2 times. There will be no third try so i pulled those 3 cameras off the dvr controller and have been running well and believe i have some type of lightning/grounding/electrical /issue coming from the barracks Whats the best way to approach making these three cameras work in this type of enviornment. The issues seem to stem from storms in my opinion. Need some help guys
  3. Thanks guys Dpol am TomCCTV.. many thanks ..You guys have given me a good ditection to go. Ill let you guys know which way i end up going on this and how it works out. Thanks for the tips they are very much appreciated Atom PS this system is not on the network so no IE ..Thanks for the input i appreciate it
  4. Thanx for the quick response.. I really appreciate you taking the time. Im going to have to look at the price but from what your saying its sounds like its at least double the intial cost of the original DVR. If i could find something for 400- 500 bucks that would do this is my target. Thanks again just curious which manufacturer does the PIP? I actually think i have that quad switcher but can i use it with the dvr and still get recording done? Im assuming is either dvr or multiplexer. Im kinda new to CCTV
  5. DVR is a 4 channel and i only have 2 cameras. The Dvr only allows two options 1)dwell between two cameras 2)or quad split view. I really need to have a dual view meaning just the 2 cams on the monitor at the same time. (instead of of 2 grey squares and 2 cam squares.. And if your thinking just throw in two cams ...its just not an option. My question can this be accomplished and how if so? Apparently I believe with my current dvr which is a digimerge 4channnel It cannot? Are there any other manufactures or ways to accomplish this? Thanks for any help on the matter.

  7. like i said i have been reading the manual and deciphering into laymans terms...It sdays i can have many presets and i can define patterns and possibly incorporate presets into the pattern i just am not seeeing anything in regards to stringing the presets together..ill keep looking and probably put a call into tech..ill update the thread on what that story is tomorrow. Thanks again for the help Soundy
  8. what part of the menu would enable you to cycle thru ..lets say five of the programmed presets?
  9. Hey soundy thanks for the clarification and defining the jargon for me . I Really appreciate it. This is my first foray into a a more sophisticated camera I go to the school of learn as you go and dont have alot of time to make mistakes this week. Most my customers want cheap and I rarely get to play with more advanced cameras.
  10. Hey guys I have a 16 zone system that has one pelco spectra IV on it and Im not that savvy with it. I have been reading the manual and have programmed it a bit but could use some clarity on "Patterns"mode. Is the term "tour"and pattern used synonymously. I need to make a "tour" but dont see a"tour" mode: just a pattern ..Im assuming this is the same thing , please verify guys if im wrong i need to know. Thanks in advance for any help.

  14. I was hoping that someone would be able to help me figure out the best way to implement a surveillance system that I could monitor with my iphone on the 3G network remotely and record the video aswell on a inexpensive dvr that I could also remotely enter with an IP addrerss. I need a stable decent video rate on the iphone. Has anyone done this and what is the best route to take. I am on a budget but I need to make the system humm so what do you guys think? MY ideas were Cameras -- analog ---inexpensive axis video server----- digitize the feed then I thought to set up a web server and let the iphone pull the feed from safari. The other more expensive option would be go with axis cameras ip network cameras and the price seriousy goes up.. I really need some help-- Thanks I saw the program Ira for the iphone but it looks expensive- BTW im in the U.S.
