    CCTV dosn't work after dusk

Heres my two cents Goto the worst camera feed (maybe its the longest maybe not) and hook a power adapter to it (use an extension cord if needed) if the problem is solved you know you have a power drain issue, if not it maybe somthing else. Just curious what camera (brand and model) are you using? Glen

    Clueless Newbie needs help!!

Walmart?? Are you joking? I could draw a better picture than those cameras show, keep in mind if you have wireless phones at 2.4ghz they will more than likely interfere with each other. I would go for the Costco package at least before I based my home security on Walmart. At least with either if they are too bad for your taste you have the no questions asked money back refund available. Good Luck
  7. Heres a stupid question- Whats the difference between the sent and out boxes in the pm area? I have messages in the outbox that dont appear in the sent box??? Does this mean that they were not sent? Thanks

    NETWORKING HELP STILL REQUIRED

Mis-spelled word for testicles, as in "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols". But apparently cybernettaxis has a very strange anatomy since he says: The Urban Dictionary defines gahoonas as "The breasts of a women". If he (she?) has breasts between his (her?) legs he (she) must be some kind of alien. I thought that was the "taint" as in it taint your arse and it taint your junk.

    DIY Home DVR Recommendation?

I sent you a pm with what I would get, I didnt include it here so as not to ruffle any feathers for posting prices (even though they are retail) I will say that the best price on the brand of equipment I sent you will be found at www.shoreviewsecurityusa.com I know the price is a little over your budget but I think its worth it. Get the DVR without a hard drive and DVD burner and just add them yourself. You can find great deals on those at newegg.com or my favorite www.zipzoomfly.com Talk to Mike he is very knowlegable and great to talk to. I dont work for them or anything I just like to pass on good service when I get it. I chose the XLA over the LTA because it will record at 2cif giving you a larger picture for verification purposes. I have the LTa and its ok but I wish I had gotten the XLA for the better recording resolution. I also have the cameras (P540X) that I posted and have been very happy with them. They will do your driveway justice. Here's a link to a review I did on them http://dopalgangr.bravehost.com/ And dont forget you will need to add power and cabling to your list as well Again I dont work for Intellicam or anything just passing on my 2 cents

Thanks for that info!!! I've been looking for a comprehensive document like that for some time now myself!!
  17. All, I'm looking to get a good Outdoor PTZ camera with the Sony CCD that has medium speed (50/sec or faster) with at least a 20X or higher optical zoom for my backyard. There alot on the old Ebay (dont know if there any good or not) but I thought I would try here first. Heres the kicker, my budget is $350 and under. Any ideas?? Thanks, GT

AverMedia 1304net is worth the money!

I would have to disagree, although the Avermedia states it does D1, IMO its D1 didnt look as good as the CIF on the Intellicam system (especially in the black areas, lots of pixelizations and artifacts). The Intellicams colors were solid and the pictures crisp, while the Aver's lines were not as sharp and the pictures became soft and almost blurry when you selected Direct Draw. The Aver also is a pain to view any video remotely on playback, takes forever. I will say that the Aver had a better drive layout and the rubber gromets are good for shock. I also like its form factor and the USB on the front. However, the Aver never stopped writing to the drive (even with the motion detection set to the lowest setting) when I went to remove the drive it was almost to hot to hold. Again just my opinion.

    1304 net network problems

You have to use the ddns (unless you have a static ip) because your ip address will keep changing. (this is your public facing IP) PM me your telephone and I can walk you through it.

    1304 net network problems

Heres what I did to make mine work (NO DMZ NEEDED) oh and by the way I have Vonage for my phone which sat in front of my router then handed off access to my router, I moved it behind my firewall: On the DVR make sure the name you created on the Avers website is in there correctly with the password that you used on the site, not the DVR's password. Small picture but also ensure that the port is 80. The directions say that you have to restart the DVR after you make this change as well. It should look like this: On your router make sure the "Block anonymous internet requests is disabled" this was my problem.. For the forwarding make sure it looks like this and is being forwarded to the static ip address that you assigned to your DVR: Hope this fixes your issue..
