Pelco Spectra III and KBD4000

newbie has few questions regarding installation.

 

Here's what I have:

-2 complete Spectra III Dome system

-Pelco KBD4000 keyboard

-Pelco MX4016CD Multiplexer

-Pelco MCS4-2 24VAC Indoor power supply

-Spool of RG58, BNC connectors and crimper

-18 AWG wires

 

Do I need to purchase the Pelco MX4000SVR Multiplexer Server?

 

How does the KBD4000 control camera PTZ when it's connected to multiplexer? Aren't there suppose to be signal cabling for these?

 

How would a Kalatel DVR connect to this setup? by loop?

Pelco use Coaxitron protocol. No control cables. Dome control is transmitting over same video cable to dome.

But RG58 cable is 50oms. You must use RG 59 cable.

Server not neccesary.

shropna do I understand you correctly that GeoVision supports the coaxitron protocol?

 

The system I have has the following components:

 

GeoVision GV-650 ver. 6.11

Pelco CX9024RX Coaxitron Receiver/Driver

Pelco PT680-24SL Pan/Tilt

Yoko 210Z Zoom Auto-Focus Camer

 

I have four such setups excluding the GV-650.

 

I am a beginner and have read and experimented with these systems for about six months now, unable to make the GV-650 control the pan/tilts and the cameras.

 

What do I need to do to make it work?

I need to be able to control the systems through the Coaxitron receiver/drivers. The cost and inconvenience of running new cable is not something management wants to undertake. So what I need is someway to translate the commands issued from the GV-650 via the RS-232 and send them to the Coaxitrons via coaxial cable. I know I maybe looking for something that does not exist. However if this is the case then I will have to think about building a circuit to do it. Decoding the signals sent by the GV-650 should not be to hard, (I have one that can be hooked up and tested) the real problem is knowing how the signal is then encoded, i.e. pulse, modulation, frequency, any ideas would help.
