ICR100x or full size ptz?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm in need of a ptz camera and preferrably a mini. I could do a full

size one but I think the neighbors might get up in arms about it so I was hoping to use something less conspicuous.

I need good zoom capabilities and wonder is a 10x optical good enough? I need facial identity at 100 feet in daylight conditions.

I would like to keep it around $1000 if possible. I live in the Great Lakes States and it gets very cold here in the winter. Any suggestions?

Anyone have any reviews on the ICR100X? I'm debating between that and the USAG PTZ-ESCORT cameras for a residential outdoor install.

This is the camera that I use about 90% of the time. I retail it for $900.00

I deployed one ICRealtime ICR 100X.

I did not have much time to "play" with it before the install. Out of the box I have no complaints. The camera swivels 360 so there are no stopping points, and having to reverse direction to see past the stopping point!

So far, so good. It say WDR, but lying on the floor with light coming throught a window it did not appear to be a "strong" WDR system. Lack of time does not allow me to learn more.

It connects well to an ICRealtime DVR with no problems. The DVR is remote mounted. I purchased the best controller that they offered. The controller is IP based if you ever need this function. I do not use the IP function, and I have it set up for RS485. Device number 2 is the DVR.

I have no complaints about the camera. I do have a complaint about the high end controller that I puchased. I have it set up to contol the DVR, and not the camera. Through the DVR I control the PTZ. No problems so far, but when you press the 4 camera view, or 8 camera view, or the 16 channel view then you do not get what you selected. In other words it is as if all the buttons are the same, and you are just cycling through the selections. If you press 16 view it goes to the next in line. 1, 4, 8, 16, and the various positions of bigger windows with small windows surrounding, or all windows the same size.

The camera does not look "toyish" so this camera gets my vote.

I have not worked with it very much, but so far so good.
