Re: How to get cameras on telephone pole
tomcctv replied to jackhandsome's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi yes I understand your application for two cameras I would not go to the expense of using cat7 cat5 is more than enough the pole might be on your land but I would check with the telecom company before you attach anything to it I know someone who was charged 9.000 to replace a telecom pole because they did not have permission to do so i would also consider using plastic junction boxes ….. it just gives extra protection from lightning for your cameras …. A strike to the pole won’t effect your cameras where steel boxes will -

How XmEye connect to DVR/NVR?

Hi xmeye latches on to everything ….. even if you set your recorder up for local access only (only works on home network ) it still goes to 3rd party because of app on your devices if you read the terms and conditions of using the app ……. Which is another problem with xmeye they don’t make them available till app is down loaded xmeye monitors both recorder and which ever device you monitor your system with even if you switch your recorder off or set fire to it you are still passing information via the app on your devices terms conditions: https://www.xmeye.net/page/xmeye_service_privacy_en.html now there is a way around this but that depends on your location -
2 IP cameras over 1 cat 5 cable
tomcctv replied to Angus19's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi problem with using a splitter is no power you have two options …. Use a 4 way switch with Poe …. But you will need to call cameras back to nvr from your router but quickest way is buying two tp-link Ethernet over power adapters 1 at camera end and one nvr end …… no cable needed I use these all the time with no problems it is also the cheapest way https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/powerline/tl-pa717-kit/ -

Good wireless ptz ip camera under $500?
tomcctv replied to Robble's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi I know what ever I say your not going to agree with …… which is disappointing…. This forum has helped 100s of people from wasting money the reason why I asked for a link to type of camera your looking at ….. was to see why we are both so far out of recommendations $500 for a foscam is a waste of money ….. yes there listed cheaper in other places but remember you also need to buy the Poe seperate now blue iris will display that camera only on its lowest resolution settings …… but as stated above in other post you can not control the foscam ptz from the blue iris you need the focam app on your cell to move it around also remember if not registered with foscam cloud you will have no control over your camera away from your home (local network) smart cameras and CCTV cameras are completely different systems in the cctv industry foscam are toys ….. don’t have a long life before replacement for your budget and to have full control with or without internet (on your own network) with no 3rd party cloud then the two I surgested 2mp dahua or 2mp hikvision ptz are professional grade cameras and both fully work with blue iris and also come with there own vms software and both in your budget my choice…… 2mp dahua ptz with tp-link network bridge ( this is the Wi-Fi from cam to router) no cables needed as you already have power this is in your budget ….. read the spec and compare it to the cheap foscam https://us.dahuasecurity.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Datasheet_LITE_2MP_H265_25x_Network_PTZ_Camera_49225TNI_v001_008.pdf -
Good wireless ptz ip camera under $500?
tomcctv replied to Robble's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Post a link of the wireless camera your talking about but eliminate the P2P and the QR setup also yes wireless cameras exist but cheap and nasty and also use server backup and they can not operate on blue iris ….. to move the ptz you need your cell phone but if you think you can do better than dahua or hikvision for a ptz and cheaper than your budget ….. post it on here -
Good wireless ptz ip camera under $500?
tomcctv replied to Robble's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
No your just not listening or you don’t want to listen Wi-Fi can be transmitted by using a bridge SO NO CABLE TO FEED but can only be done with iP camera ( which is what you need to use blue iris anyway) fitted 100s of RTzcameras so I’m sorry I have no experience to give you …. Only been doing it over 35 years …… your right I am not tech support…….. and they know nothing at all You have not stated iP camera at all ….. you have stated wireless ……. And don’t get mixed up with wireless and Wi-Fi cameras that will be a very costly mistake so as asked earlier how many cameras do you have connected to your blue iris ? It is an important question and you will not get a wireless camera to connect to blue iris -
Good wireless ptz ip camera under $500?
tomcctv replied to Robble's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Again wireless is wasting your money and with you saying you read about going up ladders to rest camera ….. …. You mention ring/ arlo ………. So your looking for a smart camera not a true cctv ptz …… also what else are you running on your blue iris ? 2mp ptz iP camera from dahua or hikvision will last you longer than a smart camera and you said in your first post you all ready have power at location …. Which means you don’t need wireless as the data can be sent down the existing power cable -
Good wireless ptz ip camera under $500?
tomcctv replied to Robble's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi using wireless just gives problems and most wireless (Wi-Fi) cameras you see now most have 3rd party involvement just look for a standard 2mp ptz that you have control of with blue iris -
Hi don’t give up that easy still a few things to try …… first off we need to know if the mic is active so you need to go into the camera menu this is done by going into ptz controls on your recorder (ptz controls are also used for cvi and tvi camera settings). Make cam 1 big on screen then right mouse click on ptz control then press enter in centre and look for audio in cam settings that will now be on screen
-
Hi on the camera connections you will see toggle switches ….. this is we’re you find the hd toggle switch but also it depends on what part of the world you are in….. yes you can plug a mic direct into your unit …… but direct from camera using software ……. You might find you can’t hear audio live but you can in playback only (listening to live conversations) is illegal in some countries
-
Do you have the camera set to HD also what cable and distance
-
Ok settings then encoder ….. you will see audio tick boxes in a row click them all then you will have the option to change audio sauce in a drop down box pick cvi also top of encoder page is has to say cam1

How to send HDCVI PTZ video to long distance without cable?
tomcctv replied to aszxaszx's topic in System Design
But if someone was to visit site in the middle of the night and stole all building materials I think the owner would also look to the cctv that’s installed yes HD to we’re you can get cables but for your application ptz is 100% a better and cheaper option if you go IP and with the mikrotik you already have listed will work with control -
Hi with that model you can only select audio on one channel so your cvi camera with built in audio need to be plugged into cam1 on your recorder
