I guess you've never lived next to Failed State types. Ever experienced an attempted Home Invasion? Ever had Failed State Mongrels threaten to kill you? No. Probably not. For most of you, Security is either a source of income or a some kind of hobby. For some of us, it is a means of surviving in our homes.

I had posted other still shots of violent encounters which Soundy removed. I had also asked him to remove a pornographic image demeaning to women. When he failed to do this, I started posting images demeaning to 'men'. The only difference in the two forms of image is that the males were breaking the law in public. What the porno deal is hardly matters. The fact is that Soundy didn't remove it. If you are such a hero with 'jokes' like this Soundy, why don't you pull that stunt within a State Institution. If you did this at a University or a Hospital or a Government facility, you would be finished in your career for the duration. But oh, no, just do it against this easy target. What a hero.

 

Chris, you suggested that I 'locked the door but forgot to lock the window' so to speak. When I described other measures I have taken to prevent forced entry, you jumped to comments about living next to me. This is not a rational train of thought.

I only pointed out the window thing because an excessive amount of people often put $200 worth of locking hardware on their front door thinking it's secure, and they have nice ornamental windows going down both sides of the door which are completely unprotected.

 

As for the neighbor comment, having surveillance is one thing, you seem to be actively watching everything in a 250' radius though. I'm actually amazed at how many incidents you've managed to capture.

 

I also don't live in the best place in the world, I just try to go by unnoticed and keep plenty of guns around. I'd like to think I'd shoot first, but I'll never know until I'm actually put in the situation which hopefully never happens.

I have a close friend who fled persecution in South America. She had most of her family thrown out of the back of a moving aircraft at 15,000 feet over the Pacific Ocean. Heroin addict sticking a needle in his arm. All this was preceded by the usual preparations: teaspoon with lighter beneath it to melt cough candy before heroin added. Needle stuck into mixture; needle licked; needle stuck into arm; needle licked again. Not bad for a home install.

This addict lived locally. After placing an appropriate poster, he decided it was time to move on.

The home invasion and blood soaked event have not been catalogued. They are on an older DVR which I replaced with the Dahua.

For the last three years I attempted to force the local Council (City Hall) to enforce dog leash laws. What a big joke eh? Dogs not on leashes.

I felt like telling the media about my efforts to get dogs restrained for the last three years but I didn't bother. If they had heeded my warnings then, that little girl may still be alive today. It was Aristotle who gave us the syllogism which is a rudimentary and formal structure of logic. The problem with the syllogism is that it is extremely narrow and cannot be used for induction. There are so many flaws in general argument that rules have been long established to prevent errors arising. One of the most common errors is called Ad Hominem or attacking the person. This means that argument often degenerates into personal comments which are irrelevant to the issue. There are quite a few other fallacies of argument which I will touch on from time to time.

 

Now regarding the 'wanting to be a neighbour' question, this is another example of an opinion that is superfluous to the issue of the argument. Whether a person would or wouldn't be a suitable neighbour is entirely arbitrary. Loud folk might like loud neighbours. Educated folk might like educated neighbours. Loud educated folk might like loud educated neighbours. Quiet educated folk might appreciated quiet educated neighbours. Blue collars might like to live next to upper middle class neighbours. But upper middle class neighbours probably wouldn't like to live next to blue collar folk. The list goes on.

I don't pretend to know what type of world you live in Fiona, we are just sharing our thoughts and opinions pertaining to the gray area of what might be too much surveillance (to the point of invasion of privacy) or too little, of course the line in this gray area shifts depending on you're location and situation. If it's on your own property, film everything from every angle at every zoom level if you wish.

We've had two or three threads recently started by people complaining of neighbors' cameras peering over their fences and into their yards, and wondering how to block or disable those cameras. The more you post, the more you sound like the person on the other side of that fence.
