GeoVision & PTZ Touring Question

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had success getting any PTZs to work on tours with any other protocol then Lytolyn (sp?) or DynaColor? I don't mean tours programmed/controlled by a keyboard, I want to start/stop and program tours via the GeoVision software and can't get like Pelco P or D even to work.

Thx all!!!

As far as I know the Pelco protocols will not do touring. The ones that will do it are:

Ademco (Jupiter)

Lilin (PiH)

Dynacolor

Samsung (SPD-1600)

There are others that are labeled as being able to do patterns, though I'm not sure what that means since I don't have any experience with them.

We use Merit Linlin domes & there is no problem with the touring locally on site.

With the remote viewer however there is a big problem built into the software. If you stop the tour remotely to zoom in or pan to an area of interest there is no way to restart the tour remotely.

This means that the tour can only be restarted locally.

We have reported this to Geovision on several occasions over the last 2 years including twice personally at Ifsec but received no joy.

CCTVDude: No, I don't do tours too often. I just know that those models are the ones that are supposed to work.

baywatch: I believe that issue will be addressed with version 7.1 of the software. You'll be able to start tours remotely.

geovision will work with you. if you can get the protocol command files from the manufacturer of the camera, they will write it into their software for you

i am waiting to hear back from Everfocus in regards to their VPTZ1000

Some great info here. Thx!

Does anyone know where to get cheap indoor domes that have one of the 4 protocols that are supposed to work with tours. I have a speed dome that works w/ Dynacolor but it's a little expensive for casual use. I'm looking for something in the $200-300 range that we can use to replace the ones we use now that don't tour.

A PT w/ digital Z or no at all Z would work...

Anyone? PM me. Thanks!

Try changing the baud rate, some Pelco Protocols will not work if not on the correct Baud rate

Hello Geeksies,

We have found in our experiences that changing the baud rate will only make the camera stop working. If your camera is working intermittently, then I would check two things. The connections to the RS-485 and then check your GV-Net and power supply. I know it sounds like common sense, but we have had several trips across the state to repair a problem with the older exteral GV-Net boxes. Now they are all pretty and are made to fit in to the PCI slot openings on the computer case. Not inside one of the PCI slots, it gets it's power from the internal power supply, not htose cheap "wall-wart" transformers that are occationally hit and miss.

Also, what software are you using to stop the tour and try and put it back. As of yet, the WEBCAM viewer from what we understand will not put the camera back to tour, but... the remote viewer software MUTLIVIEW has the the command icons to do tjust this under the VIEW menu. You move the mouse over the PTZ DEVICE text and it will open up the Internal (3550 & 3650 ports) Software. It will allow you to start and stop the tours.

Post any questions in here or the proper forum or PM me as I am new in here and would love to give the same help that everyone helps me!

Happy CCTV Selling Amigo!

I have version 7.1 (Beta).........

scottj

Awesome!

Any other noted improvements?

It still needs work, but then again what software made overseas doesn't?

The dual skin option is decent, looks like the designer finally dropped the Crayolas and used some new tools. The advanced Motion Detection is "Ok" at best. It is extremely sensitive and not the easiest to setup and adjust, but overall they are moving in the right direction. Most of the actual features are still the same, a new H.264 codec, and a few other minor fixes involving audio remote applications etc.

I think the best part of the new software is the Control Center. This allows you to remotely administer your DVR's. Something to look forward too.

We do that now, with VNC

Yeah and I just read that gorillas used tools too, doesn't mean they were as nice as what we have now.

After using several other PC DVRs that rely on the DVR Server Software for Remote Setup, VNC will help you out of alot of issues, such as if the DVR Server software is not started, or crashes.

This concept is old anyway and has been in all DVRs for a long time, such as one remote client software that does live and playback in multi view, and from only 1 program. Geo really needs to work on thier remote video side of things, cause they are so far behind in that area.

With a PC DVR you need something Like VNC or you can be SOL if something should happen to the server.
