Geovision GV800 - Genuine or Clone?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I've been offered a Geovision GV800 for a good price and have been told by the seller that it's a genuine card but reading about the Geovision clones has given me doubts.

The seller emailed me pics that I've uploaded on a webpage to view.

He said in his email:

"individual serial numbers on chip or vcard our stock has come from liquidation hence the good price"

Could I please ask for your opinions on this card.

Thanks very much

Everything looks legit, does it come with a big fat user manual also? The CD looks legit, but you never know.

Does he say what version software is on the CD?

PS. I edited the link part.

The fact that it doesnt do 720x480 means either it is a very old card (came out before 7.0) or its a clone. All the Geo cards I have used (since 7.0 version) have a selection for 720x480.

I rarely use 720x480 but still, it should support it.

Not sure if the older cards ever did though. But if its that old, would be talking like 2+ years old.

It may be a Version 2 card, they stopped producing them a couple of years ago.

Lots of them available as stock clearance.

My supplier sells those at more than 50% discount.

V2 with V6.12 softwear only goes up to 640x480.

Im running one with V6.12 softwear. Works fine.

I do think the V3 cards give a slightly better de-interlace, but it may be my imagination.

That or its a clone. the clones only work with v6 or v7 softwear.

Thanks very much for the help - There seems to be no way to tell for sure so unless I find more evidence that its OK, I wont take the risk.

One reason I was hopeful was because the driver CD looks professional (in the way that the graphics go into the center of the CD) and nothing like I would have expected from a cheap clone package.

Looks old but possibly legit. Is there a hardware version written on the board that can be seen?

I have seen a lot of clone cards which came with the same "professional cd", they do all almost perfect.Anyhow, a clone card works exactly the same like the original in most cases. These series of geo cards are outdated anyhow, the old BT878 chip has reach his limits a long time ago.If it`s really cheap, it `s worthing, otherwise not.
