CCTV operator Training Manual

Recommended Posts

This is the original, unabridged manual and it contains the complete works of the Application & Design of CCTV and Installation/Field Service of CCTV. It is a must for every dealer, designer and end user that has anything at all to do with CCTV systems. This is the most complete, easy to read book of it's kind on the market today, containing a wealth of information that will be valuable for years to come. The English version is up to date.

The best book I've found would be listed above. I didn't see a reason to purchase the cd's of the information tho I'm sure there's more than just e-books on the cd's. Try it out and even tho it's a little pricey I'm sure it's worth it (or at least hope it is)...

Thanks,

John

Ohhhhh I sincerely apologize then I was under the impression you were looking for something for CCTV Training that's why I linked that. Most of the ASET stuff I find is over in the UK.

Sorry

Thanks,

John

As each brand of drv and ptz work differant I write a guide for each type equipment we install. Plus it does no good to tell a user how to operate a ptz when they did not buy one. You need to write one for the equipment you install for each customer. Custom to each install.

Let me explain. I was asked to prepare training for cctv opeartors. These are people who will be working in the CCTV Monitor room, making observation, writing logs and the likes.

I did a little search and found a website that offers this kind of training (not online) which covers the following areas: Role and responsibilities of the CCTV Operator and other CCTV Staff.

Codes of practice, Codes of conduct and operational procedures and guidelines.

CCTV equipment and its operation.

Control Room communications.

Dealing with incidents.

Surveillance Techniques.

Fire and emergency procedures.

I need to know where I can find training materials, not basically covers those i mentioned

All systems are different. If there is a particular system you should contact the manufacturer. A large matrixed system will vary in operation from different manufacturers and models. A casino, shopping mall, law enforcement or resort will all have different equipment, setups and policies.

On the subject of Training. What does everyone think of the NTC training manuals? They have one on Low Voltage installation, CCTV, Access Control and others. I am asking because not everyone in my shop has the same level of expertise. I am looking at developing a training regimen to get them into the same groove. Its hard trying to teach every new guy OHMS Law when what they really need is an understanding of the Low voltage stuff we deal with.

Would the training not be country specific?

Different countries have different rules for data protection/privacy etc.

What country are the operators working in, and what country are the viewing?

For what industry?

I work in the casino industry and we have never found a good training course in the basics so we wrote our own manuals. We have a number of them covering various aspects of Surveillance operations. Plus out Policies and Procedures manuals cover other aspects.

In addition, I have written manuals and papers about our technical operations, including our DVR system, matrix system, monitors, etc.

I have not seen any good CCTV Operators course so you will basically have to write your own from scratch. For technical stuff, take nthe appropriate sections from your User manuals and adapt them to your needs.

Hi There

Can anyone guide me as to where i can source training material for operators of CCTV systems. I am looking for material covering: Roles & Resonsibilites, Surveillance Techniques, Best Practices, Control room configurations etc. The learners to be trained are new to the CCTV control room environement and are currently not monitoring to the required standard and missing threats / suspicious persons / vehicles, therefore the training. I have searched the net looknig for e-books on the subject but there is not much that covers the basics and then some more advance surveillance techniques.
